Any tactical .22 that is non-restricted firearm?

Don't let too many people discourage you from considering a Mossberg tactical. It's a low cost cool looking non-restricted that is built on a fairly reliable 702 action and is lots of fun with a 25 rd. mag.

Yes it's lots of plastic but it's reasonably priced wand doesn't need tons of mods.

I'm guessing thats why he bought it. If you read my original post, I said the sr-22 is a good gun. However I just wanted to let the poster to know what he'd get into if he got an sr-22 as well as every other gun!
I can't help but comment, you sr-22 lovers haven't answered my question. Imo this speaks volumes about the gun.
So guys how much have you spent on upgrades?

The main reason why I dislike the sr-22 is because it's an upgraded 10/22 for $600. Then you swap parts out of it and it costs you more and more. I can't justify a $1200+ rimfire, maybe you guys can. For that kind of money you can buy a 10/22 and pimp it out several ways. Or buy a basic AR-15 and conversion kit and be done with it.

beause they can. We dont need to justify spending money on our guns, and it is blatantly ignorant to ask people to do so. If you actually read my post you would have noticed me point out that we upgrade because we can, not because we want to or because someone or something makes us. We have the money, we choose to spend it on our guns, we are happy with that. Whats your problem? People like the SR-22 so they buy one, then if they want to they choose to upgrade with even better stuff. You dont see alot of stock SR-22s because everyone knows what they look like, mostly modded SR-22s get posted by people who are proud of them. If you are judging the financial curve of SR-22 ownership based on what you see posted on the internet then you just arent paying attention. All the stock SR-22s are out being shot while people whine on the internet. If its all about paying as little as possible to get something that looks cool then all the power to you, but Ive got the money to get what I want so I go and get what I want. What I want is not a cheap gun in a piece of plastic. But good luck convincing the internet that SR-22s are bad and expensive or whatever it is your trying to prove.

for non-restricted .22LR, you're essentially looking at the 10/11 that you dress up according to your tastes, the SR-22, which is a 10/22 in an AR skin and the Mossberg Tactical, which is one of their Plinksters (702?) in an AR skin.

everything else has been classified as a variant of a prohibited or restricted firearm, so have been prohibited or restricted themselves.

the only way to get .22LR in a true AR platform is to buy one. that, unfortunately, puts you into restricted territory. In that vein, though, you probably would want to look at a cheap lower like Norinco and add a .22LR upper, like the one from Chiappa to keep your costs down. :)

Hey all the power to you sr-22 owners. I just wish the sr-22 owners would be honest and be upfront about it's costs. If you read my pasts posts I'm upfront about the mossbergs flaws. However very few of you guys are honest or upfront about how much you spend on upgrades when you're telling people to buy one.

I love my sr22. Other than an auto bolt release and a set of dlask rails it's stock. It's still a great shooter though and I would recommend it to anyone. Hell I have thought about buying another one.

The 1022 format is a proven design and there's nothing to disagree on there.
I don't own one (yet) but I've shot one (a buddy's , thats about 20yr old ) a kazillion times and enjoyed every shot. It's just as reliable and accurate as the day he bought it when many of you "good ol' boy's" were still in diapers.
However , the Mossy 702 is also a proven reliable design and I went to the Mossy Tact for my kool fun gun and alot of that decision was based on price .
I started to add accessories from Canadian dealers but found I can get the same accessories from Ebay at a much , much lower deal.
Stuff from China takes the same amount of time to get here as it does from Canadian dealers or the US.
Quite frankly , I'd challenge the SR22 anyday with my Mossy Tact..reliablitiy, accuracy and even tactical speedfire targeting.

( yeah , it's plastic ...get over it )

This is illogical. The stock package SR22 has one flaw, it has no sights.

So you have to shell out x amount of money to put a sighting system on it of your choice and specific need. An economy scope or redot is probably one of the most effective and cheapest options.

You can spend an obscene amount of money on upgrades, many which can be shared with other guns in your inventory - so they're hardly SR22 specific/exclusive.

I don't see how having the ability to upgrade a gun is a negative, as opposed to guns that can't be.

I must have hit a nerve. I'm not saying the sr-22 is a bad gun. What I wish people who champion there guns is to be honest with new people looking to buy the gun and say,
Hey I think this gun is great, yes it cost almost twice the amount of a 10/22 but I'm ok with that. Just to warn you most of us drop another $600 - $1000 bucks on the gun.

Very very few people on the sr-22 pimped forum add up there costs however they are sooooo quick to list all the upgreades and extra parts!

you hit a nerve every time you post, ffs read my posts in response to yours. newbies dont have some "right" to know that some people like to upgrade their guns, or that the SR-22 has to be singled out as "upgradeable" I have no idea where your logic comes from. You think people should buy the cheapest, least upgradeable gun for some reason? Maybe someone should let Ruger know theyre making a grave mistake, any other guns too upgradeable to be safe to buy?

I don't think that. If you don't like plastic, don't buy a mossberg. I'm just saying if your recommend a gun to someone, be upfront with the costs.

the cost is $600, upgrades are not hidden fees theyre things that people choose to buy. simple as that. Nobody has to upgrade their SR-22 some choose to, they choose to spend that money. Its not like SR-22 buyers get hit with system access fees and value added service fees. Being upfront with costs? what is that suppossed to mean? everyone knows what SR-22s cost and can quickly figure out what other things cost. No one is being lied to or led to believe that they have to upgrade unless they read your posts. I just dont understand your logic whatsoever. Its childish.

You know what i notice in ALOT of threads? they get highjacked by people arguing about stupid ####!! buy whatever you want, my first and only 10/22, i bought last year and put a marauder kit on it with a strikefire red dot and I love it! I agree that its a waste of money to buy a sr-22 thats already got a nice chassis on it and then put a marauder stock on it, thats why i bought a plain one for $230 and then put the stock on it, but as they say "It's your money, spend it how you want!" look around theirs countless options for upgrades on a 10/22, whereas other .22's not so much.

Lots of new stock options out there for a tactical look, even Boyds carries a tactical specific model for the 10/22, although not as "tactical" as some options out there. I've held a mossberg 702 and it wasn't for me, but as you can see, there are lots of guys that love it and more power to them. I prefer to mod my 10/22. My advice is to just buy a base model 10/22 and build it up, or buy a tac mossy and see how it feels. Either way, you can always sell them without too much worry.

Also, no offence to anyone, but the argument about being upfront about costs is basically rediculous. If anyone goes out and buys anything, even after they were refered to it by someone else, without doing their research, deserves what they get. Afterall, if I tell you that the dodge 5.9 rt is a sweet truck, so I have to tell you how horrible it is on fuel?
