Any thoughts on P320 X-Five?

I am really interested in getting a p320x5. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with one?

I Would eventually like to get a romeo1 to add to it but not a must.

Whats the deal with these match barrels? Are they really any different than your standard barrel that' comes with your standard pistol or is it just a marketing gimmick?
 
I love mine. Put the romeo 1 on it and quickly became a convert to carry optics in USPSA. They allow mags to be 140mm which with proper base pads and follower spring kits I start stages 23 + 1. Can't speak to match barrel other that to say the gun can out perform me any day of the week. Hope this helps you make up your mind to buy one. Cheers.

Are you considering getting a regular 320 in opposition? The x grip is a must, and it comes with an already better trigger, lightening cuts on the top of the slide and the number one reason I looked at it was: Optics ready. I don't bother looking at any sort of competition pistol that isn't optics ready. I don't find it significantly more accurate than a bone stock 226, but it is a lot more shootable overall and thus more accurate for me. The one holdback is the holster support sucks. We need more thumb release holsters on the market and less serpa copies.

I wouldnt be interested in the regular p320. I want a x-five. My p226 scorpion with srt is amazing.

It would be used as a range toy and eventually competition. Xfive has alot of features and it looks sweet. Alot of folks say the shadow but i just don't like the look of them. I am looking to improve my accuracy drawing from holster and to have fun not be 1# in the world.

The x five grip is what i really want to try it. I posted an ad looking for a used one on ee to save few bucks. Hopefully someone decides to part with theres before i just buy one from the local gun store

I bought the XFive that did not come with the magwell or the magwell ready mags. If you intend to shoot IPSC Optic Division this would be the version you would want since you can't use a magwell in their Production Optic Divisionl. If you want it for IDPA Optic Division than go for the magwell version. The magwell is removable so the one with the magwell would give you both options.

I put my Vortex 6MOA Viper in the gun and it works great. The XFive weighs more than say my PPQ and handles the recoil better than the PPQ for me. The gun shoots where it is aimed and is reliable. I tried a minimum charge of 2.9 gr of D700 same as 700X and the gun would not function with the Optic on the gun. The gun functions at 125 PF or greater using 3.9 gr just fine.

With all the options the SIG 320 series brings you the 320XFive is a gun anyone might be interested in. I would think most will like the gun. It certainly will have all kinds of support. I use a Soley Canadian holster and am happy with it for IDPA/IPSC shooting. Without an Optic I would thinkthe gun will be a player in IPSC Priduction striker fired crowd and IDPA SSP and/or ESP Division.

If you do not intend to put an Optic n the gun you might want t check out the PPQ Match. The PPQ has a much better trigger than the stock 320 XFive. Recoil management is easier with the XFive and that is where my Optic resides.

Just bought one. It comes with the magwell. I Cant wait for transfer to be complete. I got the soley canadian holster and pouch. 4 extra 40sw mags with the base plate extension. My other glock 19 has no problem using 9mm ammo in 40sw mags. Now i gotta find a romeo1 optic.


1)10+ years of firearms ownership but I am no knowledge of red dots. I thought i overheard a customer at LGS say you shoot with both eyes open for red dot pistols?

2) the p320x5 rear sight comes off so no co witness. Should i take the front fiber optic out? front fiber is green so red and green. Maybe it will help to see the green dot below?

Your red dot expertise would be a great help on these questions
 
You can just build your X5 from a Used P320. At least that way you get the slide milled for an RMR and not that crappy ROMEO ! ;) Cost Wise I think it ended up a bit cheaper as well and you also get better parts.

Your proposed route gets you a plain-jane P320 with an X5 Grip Module and an RMR cut. Definitely a "poor man's" X5 facsimile, as you are missing most of the key aspects that make an X5 an X5. Your econo solution is missing the enhanced trigger (a HUGE upgrade), Match Bull Barrel (enhanced accuracy and consistency), and the Slide lightening cuts (optimal reliability with an MRDS mounted). As a result, your slightly upgraded P320 is just that - a long ways away from a genuine X5 in terms of both features and performance.

Like you, I first went down the rabbit-hole of upgrading a stock P320 with the after-market Apex Trigger Bar and X5 Grip Module. The trigger still sucked donkey balls compared to the real deal. I quickly sold that handgun in order to buy a genuine X5 and am very glad that I spent the extra. In this case, you definitely get what you pay for. If you really want to mount an RMR instead of the Romeo 1? Just buy a P320 X5 RMR Adapter Plate from Springer Precision in the US. They ship their Mounts to Canada.

I find that I need less training and ammo to master a pistol that is already optimized for accuracy and reliability, thus saving me money in the long run. Each to their own, eh? ��

Depends if you go with the Romeo you will co-witness. If you don't the front sight is useless. I left mine on only because I may switch back and forth and the front sight sits in a dovetail and I don't own a sight pusher.

Very true. I've used some cheapie guns. After using some qaulity pistols. A big difference. Practicing trigger control and grip hold on a qaulity gun makes a big difference. I've saved couple thousand rounds by not wasting my money on a crappy trigger.
 
That XFive looks amazing. I'm still stuck on whether to get the Q5M or the X5, both are great, and both are both stock by some of the best USPSA shooters. The Q5 just has something to it, I'm leaning that way, but the X5 looks so damn good, and also shoots great. That trigger is nice for Production or Production Optics.

As for the RMR is the best comment, most competitive shooters that shoot 5000-8000 rounds a month say it's no better than a Vortex, or Romeo, and breaks just as much. You're just buying into the marketing, If you're buying it to be an operator OG, go for it, but it's no more reliable on a pistol than anything else out there at the moment. Every one of the "pistol" optics were made to be rifle mounted, or on top of an optic. Hopefully the SRO will be better, waiting to see reviews by shooters that usually fire thousands of rounds in a month.

The stock XFive trigger sucks compared to the stock PPQ Match and M2 5" triggers. I have all three and the XFive trigger is nothing to jump up and down about. It is serviceable though and I don't mind it shooting the gun with the Optic installed. As stated earlier I think I control recoil better with the heavier XFive hence the Optic stays on the XFive while the Match runs stock irons. Both are accurate and reliable. You really can't go wrong with either.
