Some if you have probably heard the Ukraine crisis might cut off Russian ammo supplies to the west. Not sure yet if that's true. But what about the rifles themselves? Any talk?

If it is due to the trouble in Ukraine, things will eventually cool down, and imports will again come in. Or they will go through different channels. Sometimes I don't buy into the panic buying, wasn't it last year when all the 7.62 was supposed to dissapear? What happened? Prices went down!

an amount of something left over when requirements have been met; an excess of production or supply over demand.

they havent been made in 50+ years now, guess what, the well is running dry

On an equally troubling note we learn that Saskatchewan has just banned the importation of Russian vodka in response to the situation in Crimea.

The population of Saskatchewan is predominantly Ukrainians so that comes at no surprise. Funny thing to note is that Saskatchewan's terrain is identical to Ukraine's.

No, the premier is just musing.
Besides, there is only one Russian Vodka sold in our liquor stores. If you want to support Ukaraine, drink Slava vodka.

There is no doubt it will have effects on the export SKS market. Almost always the price increases. We've had it good for quite a while.

Well I bought some Mosin Nagants from Lever in the late 70,s, and they were the last we would ever see, Ya right !

They made 2.5 to 2.7 million Russian SKSs. Few saw combat. Most relegated to second line use. Many survived. There are many left. I suspect we'll see a steady stream for many years to come. I hope I'm wrong, but there's currently a never ending supply. So many EE sellers have them.

The problem with the ones on the EE is the tacti-tards who chuck the wood, put plastic on them, and think that actually increases the value (and the subset of tacti-tards who are even dumber and pay for them).

Lots of Chinese ones left to burn through, and hopefully the Russian spigot will open up again... I've heard rumours that no one really knows how many Soviet era weapons the Poles stockpiled - SVT's, Mosins, SKS's, and AK's (the last being non-relevant to us here in Banada). Not much has really come out of there yet, because Poland is trying to play kissy-nice with the EU and keep a lid on arms exports. But sooner or later, $$ will talk, and EU and UN bullsh!t will walk.

Then there's the guys who shoot the piss out of them with corrosive ammo, or use them as beater rifles. Nothing wrong with that, to each their own. But sooner or later SKSs will become rarer I do believe.

Either way I picked up another one today, partly as a hedge against export trouble, partly because I was bored ;) Here's to our worthy enemies the Reds.

Poland has only 700 SKS left all converted to straight pull with a pin beyond the chamber to prevent live ammo from being fired. They are for blanks only "Parade and Drill Rifles"

- Russia does not export SKS because of UN treaty
- Ukraine is basically done
- The rest of ex-soviet republics never had bigger stock of them
- Poland none only drill rifles
- East German supply was sold off to Croatia and it made to US and Canada in early 2000s
- Albania all sold or destroyed
- Former Yugoslavia most 97% already sold
- The rest of former Warsaw Pact countries made a switch from Mosins straight to AK. SKS if any remind they are drill rifles

Only possible sources heavily used sks from Africa or South East Asia (think about what tropical weather does to guns?)

I was actually referring to EE businesses, not individual bubba experts. However, not all individuals bubba their SKS's or improperly clean them after shooting corrosive. Most seem to take pretty good care of their SKS's. Combining the many still available by businesses, and the many for sale by individuals, we'll see plenty available for months, if not years.

Now, here's some fact, there are FEW non-issued available. Everything I can find, save a few from weimajack, are arsenal refurbished. Nothing wrong with a refurb at all, as most are mild refurbs with replacement stocks and/or nicely blued bayonets. The cream of the crop, at least currently, are long gone!
