Any updates on Troy Sporting Rifle (PAR)

Getting a proper, third party, unbiased system in place for classifying firearms should be a top priority for the firearms lobby. Sucks it will be years if ever before this interesting firearm gets classified. I hate to be so pessimistic, but I should sadly bet money the PAR will be classed on looks alone. I have so little faith in our political system that I don't want to bother to waste time time writing a letter to my MP.

If you do that things will just get worse. It is better nothing happens than things going the wrong way for us. Keep writing. This is a war not a battle. It requires relentless effort to get results.

For the love of god don't give up! Your twig and two berries will most certainly fall off! :p

LOL yes I agree Driller. Sorry for the rant. It is so incredibly frustrating. I feel we all should be writing letters, joining the NFA, CSSA, educating others, and getting everyone we can interested in the shooting sports.

Sorry to derail this thread!

There isn't and won't be any unbiased 3rd party, it will be a political appointment to the seat in such a committee.

Imagine a committee that is appointed by the NDP and the libs.

Well it would appear that some people would be quite a bit poorer if they had actually hedged their bets... Good thing, they may need that extra cash.

The TROY PAR is NON-RESTRICTED...

With a 16 inch barrel too, as a manual action rifle. 412mm. 556 version.

The versions coming here will have the name Troy International Sporting Rifle. But the AKA is the Troy Pump Action Rifle or PAR.

"the Troy International Sporting Rifle firearm design is derived from an amalgamation of several different firearm designs and does not trace its design lineage directly or uniquely to any "prohibited" or "restricted" firearm found in the Regulations appended to the Criminal Code PART III, Section 84. "

North Sylva appears to be the importer. But I see IRG has them on their site right now on the US side.

Hope the model that gets into Canada is the folder shown above. From what I understand the 308 model doesn't fold, only the ones chambered in 5.56 This is great news, I am excited. Now who will retail them?

The 556 version is the one the frt entry has been issued for. No word on the 308 version. That is a scaled up receiver and will have its own entry.

I remember hearing something about the export version taking proprietary magazines. That way we could actually use full capacity magazines in them as opposed to pinned or pistol AR mags. Any truth to that or am I imagining things?

These are the concoctions that are only permitted in GB due to their semi auto ban. It is the best compromise but, MEH on the design and hope this is not the only type of AR's we have the privilege to shoot in the future.

They say "50 state legal" because it is the closest thing you can have to an AR in some US States too. GB isn't the only gun hating place.

I would be interested in the .308 version. I have enough .223/5.56 rifles. The idea of taking something like this on a big game hunt interests me. Not only because I find the AR style of rifle easier to carry for long periods of time, but because I would love to see the face of another hunter or conservation officer I may come across who sees me with what they think is a restricted firearm. I'm stupid like that.
