Any updates on Troy Sporting Rifle (PAR)

I remember hearing something about the export version taking proprietary magazines. That way we could actually use full capacity magazines in them as opposed to pinned or pistol AR mags. Any truth to that or am I imagining things?

Has this question been answered? I too seem to recall talk of an export version designed to use proprietary magazines.

I ordered one in 300 BO today. IRG followed up with a call. Apparently the RCMP changed their mind and are considering the PAR to be restricted UNLESS :

1) The folding stock is removed (pinning is not acceptable to the RCMP or
2) barrels are supplied at 18".

IRG will be either shopping restricted PARs or rebarrelling to 18 in. Apparently this is cheaper than adding the buffer tube adapter and collapsible stock available on other Troy models.

No idea if this same ruling will apply to the "optics ready" versions if and when they ever come in.

That's all I know. I have a friend who is getting the 5.56 version and he got the same call from IRG today.

Sucks because it stupid AND adds extra cost ($100-150) to the rifle. IRG is letting people either
1) cancel
2) get a restricted version
3) have a longer barrel installed at extra cost

I went with 3)

DAMN

I bought the 300 BO one too. I haven't got a call yet.

I think I will cancel unless they can import it without the folding stock at all. The problem might be with the folding stock. No stock at all, no folding stock to have a problem with.

Huh, what makes it restricted? I paid shipping and taxes on mine yesterday and nothing was said about it being restricted! I don't want it if restricted!

Will it fold to under 26.5''? Thus is frustrating as I'm looking forward to buying in the near future.

From their website:

Length: 36.25" stock open & extended / 33.75" stock open & collapsed / 26.25" stock folded

I figured it just had to be over 26" and it was good to go, being a manual action and all...

That seems to be true.

(c) a firearm that is designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm by folding, telescoping or otherwise, or

I don't know what they are trying to pull with this stunt. If it is legitimately 26.5" folded, it has to be good.

Unless they've changed the rules again.

I got the call today too, apparently the RCMP changed the frt because the over all length folded was less the 26" without the muzzle break on. I went with the rebarrel option. I want that folding stock, this seems to be the only way.

ATF measures from the end of the muzzle brake if the brake is pinned or welded on.

RCMP measures to the end of the barrel regardless of muzzle device - this is unfortunate.

They might as well measure without the stock on then. Total bull####.

Where in the Firearms Act does it say that muzzle devices don't count into overall length?

They don't count for barrel length. That's it.
