Any US Musket Expert Out There ?

I have a 1816 Evans Valley Forge flint musket marked 1823 . There are marks around the flash cup so I think it may be a re-conversion from percussion (not sure by any means).
Also with a 32" barrel it is likely a cut down musket but, again, I am not sure.

1) is it re-converted from percussion ?
2 Is it cut down or did they have carbines or officer models that were short ?

Very much looks like a reconversion.
Most likely cut down outside of service.

Add to what tiriaq posted.
The frizzen and spring look newer vintage then the lock.
It appears to be a case of trying to "make it fit".
Still not a terrible piece as it is a representative of a bygone era.

I had an Evans 1828 dated 45 incher. There is a site on net about Valley Forge and the 1816's made there by Evans. They were flit locks, lock made by contractor Philadelphia and Evans could be mispelled, often. Were there fusil type models, don't know.
