any value to 10/22 factory laminate stocks?

So my buddy wants to get a 10/22 but the only ones he can find have the fancy colored factory laminate stocks. The two most recent we saw were black/purple and a green/brown camo...

My friend doesn't want the stock, he plans to replace basically everything, so I was wondering if there is any resale value to them? He doesn't want to spend $50+ extra for the stock when he plans to replace it anyways but i was thinking if he can sell it for more than 20 or 30 bucks then he's not losing a lot, and maybe doesn't have to keep trying and trying to find a basic one...

I'm not sure what he things it will end up being, but why not go straight to a dlask or all custom parts build to begin with? what does he need the original 10/22 parts for?

He doesn't need the parts, per say.

He wants to make his own custom gun, hence the 10/22 starting point. The whole point is to build something himself bit by bit.

He thinks it'll end up being his own unique arrangement of stuff, which he can continue to mod as he sees fit. He can't afford a $1000 gun right away buy he can certainly build one over the course of a few months.
 
Cut for a spotter barrel, so not much interest. Keep looking for a basic model, check the big box stores....lebarons, cabellas, wholesale, bass etc

Im in BC. We dont have most of those big-box stores. No Cabelas, No LeBarons, no Bass Pro... I guess the hunt continues...
 
I'd suggest that the closer the stock is to the fancy aftermarket stuff the more value he'll get for it. For myself I don't like the laminate version of the basic stock shape because the comb is far too low for proper support when using a scope. So "IF" I were shopping for a laminate stock I'd only look at the higher comb height thumbhole stocks.

But I'd be surprised if there's no interest in the stock shape stock. And I'd suggest that he start at something more like $60 shipped. A lot of folks don't mind spending that much on a nice looking stock. Then drop down a little each week. Hell, the plain jane wood stocks are worth $30.

And I just wanted to add that if he starts with a snazzy thumbhole stock nothing says that he can't strip off the finish and modify it a little to suit his desire for something unique. It might be a laminated stock but it's still wood.

sorry, I think we got lost in translation some where LOL, that IS exactly what I was trying to suggest!!

...look in the 'EE rimfire parts' and start buying up the basics without paying tax! can't wait to see the build!
