I am somewhat new to the ar-15 world. I bought a m&p-15 sport 2 recently and am looking to get a shorter upper just for fun. I am wondering where I can get such things.

I have looked on true north arms, nordic marksman, rdsc and ctc. I there anywhere else I should look?

From what I have read you can buy a full upper from Brownells but anything that has itar on it you require an import license I believe (or a export but a specific licence none the less) this will cost you $250 for the year so if you plan to buy a lot of itar parts it may be worth it. What I have read is a much better option is when purchasing you call Brownells and tell them the story and they will have no issue sending the item to an importer inside the US with the item paid for using a Canadian card. This importer (IRG does it, and a few other site sponsors) will charge an import fee ($20-$80 I think somewhere in there) and they will bring it in and ship it to you. Better then paying the $250 license fee but it would have to be a darn good deal on the upper as after shipping, tax and exchange rate plus the import fee you could get on for almost as cheap in country. That’s my understanding anyway. But you still are capped at a $500 limit I do believe.

Do you know of any American companies, other than IRG, that you can purchase from directly that ship to Canada without making you pay the $250 fee?

Not off the top of my head no. I have not ordered any itar items yet but I was looking into it which is why I read up on the topic. A few sight sponsors are importers and will bring stuff in for you you just have to search through and find which ones. If you google search there is multiple topics about what Brownells will import that this topic is explained and I remember someone listed off 2-3 companies that do it. Been a few months now since I was looking into it so my memory is failing me on who exactly. IRG is the most common that pops up and everyone seemed happy with the process for the most part
