I'm looking for a reputable person / shop that will skin and butcher moose in the Bracebridge / Gravenhurst / Orillia area. We've decided not to use the butcher we had for the last 10 years or so, so we looking for new butchers.

Searching these forums a while back, I found one reference to a person that I believe was on Doe Lake Road in the Gravenhurst area. I can't find that thread anymore.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I'm wondering what all of the new rules for meat inspection/butchering/slaughtering...is going to do to us hunters. And it's only going to get worse...we had better start to learn how to cut/wrap on our own.

Have you ever thought of doing it your self ? it is not as hard as a lot of people think. I have been doing my own for 30 years. I got a home meat grinder that I can also make my sauges with and hamber. get a beef cutting diagram debone all your meat Do not run a saw through the bone that is one of the ways your meat will taest gamey. I also have a very old book that back in the 60's was put out for game cutting for hunters along with skinning tips. I will see if I can fined it and scan it then post it if there is enuff intrest in it.

Try Leska's just outside of Orillia on number 12. He is a fantastic butcher, very skilled, great meat recipes, does sausage and pepperonis. He also vacuum packs everything, forget about that freezer paper. Give him a call, can't recommend him enough. Cheers,

Patrick
