Anybody else got a VZ-specific chest rig?

ok so far I saw only couple vests here, where another options are? I have 4 mags, 3 go to the vest and one in the rifle. I do not see point carrying more mags if you are only allowed to have 5 cartridges anyways

Then I'd consider a Grab and Go. I've taken a few of them overseas and they're great. It holds 4 mags with a shoulder strap, it quickly converts with a waist strap to a waist rig.

Jerry made me a AR Grab-and-go for overseas. Great tool to hang in your tent, vehicle, etc for some spare mags. I've had him make me a few grab and go's over the years. If you request it with your order he'll do the fasteners with velcro, snaps, hooks, clips or supply your own hardware ( I had a couple made up with fastex buckles a few years back).

Beware though, his wait time is usually pretty long (months) due to him filling orders for troops heading overseas. It's worth the wait... Check his main page for wait times. If you're looking for the AR ones, Brownells stock them.. great chance to avoid the lineups.

interesting, but I prefer on the front. I might look for Russian Army Vest :) if nothing is here that I like. No offense :) I like with straps, just 4 pouches for magz, so I did not see anything that I would like myself

Finally got a pic up.

I'm pretty happy with this setup.

The mags are actually stacked a bit, the rear ones 1.5" higher, but the carrier is leaning here. I remove the top restraining bungees and tighten the side bungees.. this allows me to retain my mags securely yet quick access to them.

This type of setup is ideal for fast mag changes, and free movement.

Nice setup, would you mind providing details on it?

Eagle Plate carrier with III soft +IV Hard, 2x Quad HSGI AK Shingles, Voodoo tripple Pistol pouch, Rolly Polly Dump Pouch, ATS Bleeder-bag, Modified & Anchored 1pt TAG sling.

Pretty basic as far as carriers go.. lots of ammo, not much else.

Thnx, love the setup and i know what to do next :)

I would be leery of having all of my mags open topped, especially with the feedlips up. If you take a spill, vehicle rolls, etc you can lose mags or get them fouled. I always run a first reload open topped but the remainder with flaps.

While running mags with the bullets up makes for faster reloads on the rock-in style mags like VZs or AKs, the top round will work it's way off the mag over the course of the day. I tried this on some open topped Paraclete pouches until I got tired of moving the top round back into it's place and eventually just flipped my mags upside down.

For range use though it can save time on reloads having bullets up, depending on the style of pouch.

I'm running a Paraclete SOHPC with Emdom USA AK double mag pouches. They are a little tight right now but will brake in very nicely. So far it seems good. Still trying to figure out where to put the blowout kit. It's always so bulky and in the way. This has always been an ongoing issue. Might just use a weak side drop leg rig riding high like my pistol. That said, when am I going into combat at the range? I could just as easily keep the kit in the shooting bag.

I just ordered a M22 Pioneer Russian Surplus chest rig. I'll let you guys know if it works well for the 858 or not + a general review.

Hey, do you have some pics of it like form web? I know Tarzan one that I posted earlier or even surplus one from Afgan war.

hopefully these hotlinks work... that should give you a general idea.

TACTICAL ASSAULT VEST M23 "PIONEER" SPECS:
*Adjustable to all sizes (36 and larger)
* Compatible with alpine rapelling system
* Weight: 1 kilo or 2.2 lbs

ACCOMODATES:
* 8 mags to AK or 4 mags to RPK
* 10 grenades VOG-25
* 3 grenades RGO or RGN (pockets have carabines to allow one handed arming of the grenade - see insert)

* Medical pack
* AK knife
* 3 signal flares
* Documents
* Steel armor plate (not included)
* Loops for additional gear (gas mask, canteen, shovel)

I know "grenade pockets" seem useless, but I will use them for misc things (gps, compass, phone, sunglasses or shotgun shells.)
It meets all the criteria I was looking for... 8 mags, knife pouch, three signal flare pouches - im sure they fit pistol magazines and the ability to add extra gear to the rig.
