Anybody else hate loading flat base bullets??

The Lyman VLD chamfer tool works to perfection attached to a small drill.

Had I known loading flat base bullets was so much trouble I may never have started . . .

I have problems getting my cast bullets to fit in most seating dies without shaving lead or getting stuck, all those "precision" super tight, hyper accurate tolerances make seating a .316 bullet where a 312 is supposed to go "interesting".

use a lyman M die
it is a 2 step expander plug, the first step expand just under the bullet diameter (.002) the second expand the case over about .002
you are able to adjust the depth of this 2 step
seating your flat base become easy it slip in the 2 step and is held there for easy final seating

I ended up buying a extra seating die
one for seating by turning down all the way the seating stem and backing of the die
the other one to crimp or taper crimp for pistol caliber
make more operation but no more shaving
