Anybody ever hunt the Old World? What is this?

Some kind of blind, or a just a rest area structure?

I've never hunted in Europe, but I think that's a free rest stop or camping area - they are supposedly pretty common in the woods there. Don't know why you don't see more of them over here.

Ive seen those on some hiking trails in the Adirondacks...Saranac Lake area.

Supposedly, you can camp in them overnight if you want.

Because some pkrhed will take it apart for easy camp fire wood, or burn it in place.

I've seen similar shelters in canada. Usually stocked with a bit of firewood, paper, a pot, etc. I would assume its for camping/survival/rest stop.

Hunting stands in France and Germany and Czech Republic that I've seen are tiny shacks on top of tall pole towers. Sometimes enclosed, sometimes just with a roof and pole or plank sides.

This photo was most likely taken in Sweden, this is a rest/feeder for the animals. You can seat there or if you throw hay it doubles as an animal feeder in winter. They are actualy manufactured in Poland and only exported to Sweden/Norway.
I hunted in Eastern Block in the good old times, game(wild boars, ducks) were pleantiefull, easy regulations then. Nowdays with the "so called democracy" gun ownership and hunting became more difficult in some of this countries

It's a "lean-to" that is there for anyone to use. I remember sleeping in one when I was a kid with my dad somewhere (I'll have to ask him where that was).

If gives a spot to camp up off the ground and have a roof over your head if you are out walking and a storm happens upon you or it gets too dark, etc.
