Anybody ever ordered from IMA

If I`m talking to you on the phone and you say it`s in very good condition.

And I then pay extra for hand select.

I expect better than crap.

I ordered a hand select cleaning rod for my Snider. The one that I received looked to be brand new. I emailed customer service and suggested that they had sent me a repro by mistake. They explained that they don't stock repro rods and that all their original ones had been cleaned. I think it was chemically stripped because it was fresh and shiny. Perfectly straight, it fit like a charm.

So you roll the dice when you order something on line.

I am still working through six rifles that I bought at auction. They were purchased by the vendor from Atlanta Cutlery about ten years ago as uncleaned hand select. Only done the one Gahendra so far, it needed nothing but a good cleaning, the woodwork has no cracks or blemishes, just a couple little handling dings. I will be using it as a duplicator master to make wood sets for other Gahendras. I bought a couple more that have crumbling woodwork but are good mechanically.

The barrel bottom must be in sight, no hand select untouched available any more from AC. Now they got to get rid of the junk. Maybe we missed the boat for the good ones.

I really wanted a decent wood Nepali Francotte. I don't think that there is such a thing, but I remain hopeful and I keep rolling the dice.

it said on there page the bayonets were un-marked!!

I have told you once before that you are getting a piece of history that has traveled the world rust should be expected Nepalese marking are to be expected for a bayonet that seen service in Nepal you don't like it don't order from them but there no new production bayonets and you went with the cheapest option

I have gotten some small doo dads and books through them, never a rifle, but service seemed OK....

Given the lousy exchange rate and shipping, it might be more practical to buy a complete Martini here in Canada. I've seen them listed at dealers for $700-$800 in pretty fair shootable shape.

Did you know they used to have a reality show called Family guns, shows the workings of gun / military antique business.

We have bought stuff from them with no problems. Most of what we want however can't be exported now.I say "now" because several [10 maybe?]years ago they had Vickers and 1910 Maxim locks for I think 75 & 50 respectively. Ordered one of each, shipped USPS. Pkg arrived unopened...customs declaration said " 2 locks , no keys. " They seem to have lost their sense of humour since then,at least with respect to shipping machine gun parts to Canada. Still have the locks,Vickers is from OZ, both in very good condition. Still looking for the live guns to go with them.

Best money I spent at IMA was for a roll of British flannel cleaning patches. So good I bought a second one. I got a 30-06 SAFN barrel from them a while back. It was a featured item, and crossed the border without any issues.

Edited - the best part of signing up with them is a fairly regular email of specials that comes with a 'what is this' quiz.
