I used to own a Spartan and i could get 4" groups at 25 yards with it. My Jaw just about hit the ground. I tried again to see if it was fluke and i did it again.
I never used to be able to group at 25 yards at all with my NP29. then i got the trigger worked and after that i got that 6" group. Trigger work was definitely worth it.

That one belonging to my shooting buddy had been worked for a nicer trigger. I don't doubt that it's part of the "magic" that gave the gun it's accuracy. Those with excellent basic trigger skills are said to be able to shoot anything well. But for us mere mortals some reasonable trigger work and reduced pull certainly does help. As you get the trigger to work more like that Spartan you'll likely find those 4" groups again.

I tend to get my best groups with the guns that have the lighter and more crisp triggers so I'm no different.

I've got a np29 that i bought two years ago which i've yet to shoot, but it's tight no rattle, and the fellow cgner i bought it from said it preformed well for him. Can't wait to get it out and put it through it's paces.
 
The np 29 from duram outdoors are very nice
It has a nice finish and for the money it cost it is a very nice gun
It feels a little gritty but a little buffing and tinkering and should be smooth like butter
 
Picked up a 1911-A1 NP29 from Durham.(They were great to deal with). I am very impressed, Nice gun. Very solid, not sloppy, completely tore it down, de-greased and re-lubed it. The edges are smooth, none that were jagged or sharp. The gun fires flawlessly.

As mentioned, the orange dot on the front sight made me laugh real hard. I took florescent Red paint and put a drop on the front site and florescent Green paint and put a drop on each rear site.

The site clearly sticks out now.

Only thing I want to do to it is replace the trigger with a DLask adjustable one. I want to remove any creep. It is a nice gun.

I now need to see which is going to be my go to after a few Bangs.
DLask seems to have run out of the other parts I am looking for.

Which will be my go to; Para LTC in 9mm or the 1911-A1 NP29 in 9mm.

As for mags, I have 10 mags that take 10 rounds, they wont load in to the 1911-A1 if all 10 rounds are installed in the mags, I can only get the 9 round mags fit. Chip Mcormick fit and function well in the Para without issue., but not in the NP29.

Only two issues with my NP29 which I got from SFRC in 2011. The original magazines' followers would hang up on the inside of the mag tube around the 3rd or 4th shot. I just filed off a little bit of the front left corner of the follower that catches the slide stop. Magazines are now 100% reliable. I got a couple of Tripp 10 shot mags which were perfect from round one.

The other issue is that you could feel all the sharp corners, i.e. bottom and back corners of slide, safety and slide release, slide serrations, front and rear sight corners, practically every corner is rough. A little dehorning and deburring would fix this. But you need to reblue it. I wouldn't bother with the rough edges, that's what callouses are for.

My other newer 1911, a chromed .45 Commander, is just as rough on the outside. The older Norkies are better finished in and out.

On the plus side. This NP 29 as well as all my other Norks are as accurate, or better than any stock Colt I ever owned. Their slide actions and triggers have smoothed out after several hundred rounds.

BTW, my chromed .45 Commander is chromed all over, even the sights, which make them invisible. Flat Black paint on the rear sight blade and back of the front sight cured it.

Np29 shoots great with lead truncated cone lee 124 grn bullets over 3.8 universal powder.
