I'm looking for a cheap 22 for general farting around. From what I've read, most of the Norinco stuff works well but isn't pretty (which I don't care about).

Have had the norinco em332, jw27 and jw15s and they can be very accurate esp the target em332. Considered the jw14 but decided against it - not quite well engineered enough for a reliablity as a semi, and the plastic mags can wear out giving problems.

Not the best semi option but norinco bolts can be fun.

Well, I just ordered one, I'll see how it turns out. There's a couple old Cooeys and a nice old Savage kicking around the farm if its nothing but a club.

i picked one up becuase 4 years down the line people will want them , its that simple, everyone likes norinco and everyone likes marstar. ( I hope) but really , every single .22 norinco goes up in price, i have seen the lever action going for more than double their original costs, its lucrative

Took a pair of JW14's out a few weekends ago. Both of them seemed to prefer Remington Yellow Jacket ammo, groups at 25 yards were less than an inch with optics and just over an inch with iron sights. The iron sights suck, the front blade is too wide to allow light past it when it is lined up with the rear. To hit point of aim at 25 yards I had the rear sight set for about 65 meters. Trigger is quite nice for a cheap rifle. I ran 250 rounds through my iron sighted model before I managed to induce a jam, a FTF. The magazines are METAL and quite durable, they will cut your thumb occasionally when you load them. Now, for the price they are an ok rifle. A few years ago when one could pick up a Savage or a Remmy semi-auto for 149 this Norinco would have been a waste of money. If you are a rimfire collector it is a nice rifle to have in the safe and occasionally shoot. If it is going to be your go to rifle I would recommend a 10/22, 597, 64G or a Marlin. The stock is quite fat on the JW14 and not very comfortable, the weight of the rifle is also getting up there. The iron sights are crap and it is a pain in the ass to reassemble after cleaning.

One of the few upsides to the rifle is that it uses Marlin 925 ect. mags. You can get them in 7 round, 10 round and 15 round flavours. There is a 25 round banana mag that Marlin made back in the day but they are quite rare and fragile (poor quality plastic magazine).

mine just came in today , im so happy, now to get the kar norinco on sat, is their something wrong with the fact that i want to collect norinco guns, i think i have a problem

Well, I finally got it cleaned up ebough to shoot, and it works pretty well. Nice trigger pull, and the action was flawless for the 97 rounds I fed it. Funny, supposed to have 10 shot mags. One mag holds 8, the other only 7, no matter how you try. Front sight is so far off center its useless, so I put a $40 scope on it from Can Tire. Its going to be a great little gun for gophers and just screwing around. And it taught me volumes about what's inside a semi auto rifle, because it took 2 teardowns and cleanings to get all the cosmoline out, and the "Chinglish" instructions don't help much.
