Anybody got leads on some bare actions?

(LOL- NOT Action Bare!).
I have recently retired to farmland, and have "the sickness". (ie. the need for a semi custom .22). My farm allows safe 2-300 m shooting. I may later join the activity at the local competitions too.
My main problem is I like the look of stainless target barrels. I am also freakishly tall, and need a chassis system (MDT I think). I'd rather not strip a basic gun and sell the unused parts. However, I don't see many options for bare actions ( Bergara, or CZ457 or Rim-x, etc.). I see that IBI has a 2K$ .22 action, but does anyone know where , say, a more modest Rem700 action clone could be had? I am glad to order ahead of time. (The reason I am leaning to the Rem, is that a number of the stocks only support this format. I appreciate any leads. Thanks!
 
Deuce from IBI is decent. I have the Deuce 1.0, and i is smooth like a butter. You can keep an eye on the ads, these pop-up from time to time. Or you can buy the Deuce 2.0 that is advertised as being even better.

If you need an MDT chassis, you can still go with CZ457 platform. their MTR version with match chamber is very accurate.

I wouldn’t toss the barrel until you’ve shot it! I have shot four different ones and they are a very accurate rifle. They are a lot of gun for the money. But like you said the options for custom parts are plenty!
 
I bought a 455 Super Match, stock had a chip, sights were missing on the barrel. Very reasonable price. Put it in an Oryx Chassis, did a trigger job, installed a tactical bolt handle and knob, 40 MOA rail which allows me to zero at 20 yards and dial up past 300 yards with a good RITON scope. Bipod, bag rider and topped it off with a 20" varmint barrel with the CZ Compensator.

There are advantages with a 457, but no disadvantages with the 455.IMG_0952.jpg

Not only is it fun to shoot, it was very fun to build.

Now, I'm working at the other end of the spectrum, an old TOZ. Whole rifle cost me $200.00 it shoots well too.IMG_1483.jpg

I have a Bergara B14R and it's a phenomenal rifle, especially for the price. Very accuratel (though it got better with a Redd Nobb Tuna Can). Holds its own against RimX and Vudoo.

I also run a Deuce 1.0 with an IBI barrel and absolutely love it. Stupid accurate, very smooth bolt, and after getting used to the short 60-deg throw it makes the B14R's 90-degree raise feel exaggerated and lethargic.

The Deuce is a bit more finicky than the B14R with trigger pull weight (running a TT Diamond at around 1lb) and is also significantly more expensive. I picked up my B14R for $1300 or so used, sold the stock for $250 or so, throw it in a chassis you like and customize at will. The Deuce 1.0 was a $1500 action plus $1000 barrel, and it needs all the other bits, too.

Plus I love the lego-like compatibility of Rem700 platforms so I can swap around stocks/chassis, triggers, etc. at will.
 
Thanks Everyone for your input. I'd love to stick a Deuce on an IBI in an MDT- but my Mrs. wants one too!....And my wife says selling body parts to fund one is not appropriate :(. I'd love to have a homegrown shooter from local suppliers for sure. (MDT, IBI, Deuce)
I am leaning towards the Bergara stainless barrelled action when they come back in stock at CSC. Mated with an MDT chassis would get me on the range- and swap parts as needed. Ihave some months to wait and ponder tho.
 
Which parts?

I'm following this thinking I don't know enough about these companies, their action and barrel options. I'm off to Goggle-Land but would appreciate the experiences of people who have ... well ... experience.
 
No experience here - just 50 yrs of "plinking". I think there are lots of viable target rigs- most of which would shoot better than me! I like homegrown, smooth action, and budget friendly. It seems most brands have feeding "glitches"- even the expensive ones.
