Anybody here ever hunt in Eastern Europe?

Frankly, African/Asian/South American hunts have never much appealed to me, but a hunt in the land of my ancestors (Czech Republic or Ukraine) would be very interesting. And, I'm sure, also very expensive. Anyone here ever done it?

Europe is very expensive to hunt. You can get some good deals in RO or Czech Rep but you won't see so much game as in Canada. I wouldn't try Ukraine or any non-EU country, there is a war there.

I've hunted in the former Yugoslavia, Hungary and Serbia for roe deer and boar. Prices vary greatly. I know folks who hunt in Poland regularly and have a friend who was a game ranger in Serbia and who has hunted all over Eastern Europe. I think the Polish roe deer hunts can be had for a couple of thousand euros plus the flight.

400 g and over (+10,0eur - for each 1g over 400g) - 900eur
Wounded, not found roebuck - 200eur

So for $2000 you could do the hunt with 3 decent bucks

For example these three bucks would be about $1350 in trophy fees:

I have looked into driven boar in Hungary, Croatia etc. and the prices are not outrageous, less than an outfitted Whitetail in Alberta or Saskatchewan. There are Canadian outfitters that charge $5000+ for a whitetail, maybe a bit less if you sit in a stand all day. I would rather pay for a traditional driven hunt, staying in an old hunting lodge etc. etc. I am not obsessed with trophies so paying for an experience like a driven hunt is more valuable to me that a few inches of antler.
