Anybody here hunt with a Cooey 84?

My 84 in 20ga is my go to grouse gun, I have shot more birds with that than any other. It just gets the job done simple and I don't mind it out in the weather or getting scratched. Paid $50 for it about 7 years back, Great gun!

Federal used to make a 3/4 oz 3" .410 load than just spanked grouse. For some reason that escapes me they have now introduced a 3" .28ga this year...................Harold

That 3" 28ga has been talked about for a couple of years now but I have never seen ammo yet. The was some guns made forget now the brand around 2010 maybe

here we go it was 2010

I was just looking through the 2010 Fiocchi catalogue and noticed that they will offer a 3 inch 28 gauge load with 7/8 ounce of 9.5 g/cc tungsten shot in 4-5-6 shot sizes.
There was one of the guns mentioned at the time
I used to own a B Rizzini Aurum Classic 28 that had a 3 inch chamber and Franchi made one in 2016
may be others

I don't have a cooey, but I have one of the Sinsinati break actions from Corwin Arms. I always wanted a 20ga, but got a screaming deal on a 13" 12ga that I just couldn't pass up. Sits very nicely on the front seat. Kicks like a mule with slugs that's for sure!

Your set is in very nice condition from the pics. I have a complete set also of 84's but not as clean overall as yours. My 16, 28 and 12 are either new or mint 20 excellent used and the 410 I still watch for a better one Are you not missing one?? I also added a 36" 12 to my group
Cheers

Thanks 3macs1! My 12g is not featured in the pic. The gun rack only has room for 4 firearms. I'll eventually build a display rack to display all my Cooeys. That would be a neat addition to the den

The new Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon 1 /.28ga is chambered in 3" .......trying to emulate the 20ga I guess? Harold

Update~test shoot with the "new" 20ga/84 was a success this past weekend. Stout recoil, ejects the empties about 20'...lol All good though. Next-up~clays!

...never sat down and compared side-by-side a cooey 84 and winchester 37...

...got anyone here who has?

I program a CNC router and could help you with a custom rack. Granted, the price would be a Cooey 84 in 28ga! (kidding, but not really :) )

I picked up a fairly beat up Cooey 840 in 12ga because I figured it would make a good truck gun plus it's a great piece of Canadian history. Not as nice as an 84 but oh well. Original barrel was cut down so I'm keeping my eye out for an old Poly Choke.

I'd love to find a 20ga barrel for it.

Anyone ever comes a Cooey 84 20 gauge with HK engraved on the butt plate please advise.
