Am I chasing a white rabbit here or are these babies easier to find than I think? Haven't seen Any new or used for sale I don't think ever. Was thinking of modding a regular one to fit ak mags but looks like quite a bit of an undertaking, I'm no welder.

They come up once in awhile. Sometimes for ridiculous prices but sometimes you get lucky and find one or two for a decent price.
I have bought 2 off of here within the last 2 months. One with spike bayo and one without.
Maybe put a WTB add up in the EE.
No mine are not for sale:cool:

I don't know why they are so sought after now.

I bought one many years ago for about $300 That included a crate of ammo and several mags. I wasn't interested in getting duck-billed mags for my regular SKS. Everywhere I went I would ask if they had any in stock. After a while I would ask and expect the standard no. One day I was at a local gunsmith and he happened to have one on consignment. It was like I found a unicorn. After I got over my initial shock I quickly shouted, "I'll take it!" and raced off to my local bank to get the money. This was sometime in the late 90's. It got a lot of use.

I shot the ammo and ended up selling my SKS D for $500 after I bought a CZ-858. No regrets at all. It was pretty cool at the time but there are a lot better rifles on the market now.

Ya and at over 600 for a used one it's worth paying a little more for a cz. Guess it's a supply and demand thing. I just don't get why there haven't been more imported recently, were they made in pretty limited numbers?

That's the going price for a D, $550-600, you could sell the aftermarket stock for $100 and bring the price down. So basically you want one, but just don't want to pay the price for one lol.

Definitely NOT a 600 dollar rifle... I have had two .. Both came in on trades and neither preformed where I'd expect a rifle that people ask that much for... If your desperate to shove an AK mag in something I guess you might consider paying the premium

there are two on the EE as we speak.....Or you can buy mine at.......let say......starting at the low,..low price of .....no never mind,I'LL keep it.LOL. As far as machining a regular sks to take ak mags. It can be done and once (not that it helps you) you have an sks d side by side to an sks ,the different is"t that much. Yes the open is a bit wider and the front of the mag entrance has to be machine longer and lower, and the rear has some material to be removed....like I said if you have them side by side the differents are easy to see and make as required.
