Anybody know where to find an sks d or m?

SKS-D is NOT a $600 gun. Once people see something listed in the EE at a higher price they immediately assume that's the going rate and list theirs accordingly. Like the $1,000 AK74 dewats, anyone paying $600+ for an SKS-D is a sucker.

There is a member who converts Russian or Chinese SKSs to a D model and lists them at $450. His name escapes me at the moment. That's a reasonable price for a custom job. There's also a couple of members that have perfected an AR mag conversion that accepts 7.62mm XCR mags for a legal 10 rounds, you may want to explore that option as well.

Guess it's a supply and demand thing. I just don't get why there haven't been more imported recently, were they made in pretty limited numbers?

yes, its economics . my understanding is the chinese can make anything but at a cost, the retooling cost is quite significant and would require a minimum order to get the retail price lowered to a point where it would attract interest but unfortunately it wasn't enuff for our small market.

the main reason why we have the "D & M" in Canada is bcos its was an American invention so we tagged along but when the US banned them in 1994, we benefited bcos the Chinese diverted the end of the production to Canada .

someone told me back in the early 90s , the "D" were selling for $125 , a $25 over a standard sks , if you bought an sks back then , you now know which one you should have bought .

I'm starting to think it's not worth getting one...I was looking into getting a Russian surplus modified by one of the cgn members but it costs 450, then you have to buy mags, and your still stuck with that terrible magazine release. For my purposes (make a ak wannabe gun) it's worth just getting a regular Russian and pro magging it and butchering it to work more like an ak or vz. Anything more cost wise and I mays well just get a vz58.
