what kind of gun are you using them in the gun would dictate the load you are using since there everything from antiques that cant take much over BP pressures to modern lever guns that can take a lot and everything in between
Nothing in Fort McChicken? Its time to start reloading my friend, factory loads are limited by BP pressures so that all factory ammo can be fired in any rifle in good condition. Handloads for the Marlin blow that limitation out of the water and for much less than factory ammo. Last box of 20 Remington .45-70 405gr SP I saw was $50. I can buy 100 405gr Rem SP bullets for $50... I picked up some 250 TSXs and a pound of AA1680 today to play with. Barnes data states MV of over 2600 fps @ max.

not all factory ammo is at trapdoor pressures its up to the owner to know.
You were on my list to call for sure, but got some local for now.
Actually its up to the mfr to print it on the packaging. If I put .45-70 ammunition in a .45-70 and it blows up, we're gonna have problems. Like lawsuits and bankruptcy and bad PR. The only factory .45-70 loaded to Marlin levels that I've seen is not available in Canada that I've been able to tell. Its also printed on the box what its for. If it were up to the buyer to know then buyers would be very unsafe now wouldn't they?
