Anybody loading hornady .53 g vmax,in .223?

The most accurate .223 load I've had so far in my Varmit X-Bolt is 24.5gr of benchmark with a Nosler 55gr ballistic tip.

But thanks again Brian for referring me to this thread for the 55gr vmax info

If the factory 53g Vmax is 2.250 COL. Why is the hornady reloading manual stating , 2.240 as COL? Just curious is all.

The COL listed in a manual really doesn't mean much as far as your gun is concerned. The throats in various rifles can vary in length, and the optimum COL for different rifles also varies. The COL is actually a variable used to fine tune loads.

So if the COL for 55g vmax is 2250, I'm ok to be over this,as long as they fit in my mag? And what difference would it make to my ammo and rifle if my COL were various lengths ?

Can go as long as you want. I load some of mine so that maybe a 16th of an inch is in the case. I like to load as long as I can get away with. Also the max in one gun doesn't mean its the max in your gun.

Different col's will give you different accuracy. As well as different pressures.

I'm loading my 53gr Vmaxs with CFE 223 for my Sako. I have shot some impressive 1/8" 100yd groups with this combo although they have the downfall of having to single load as they are too long for the magazine.
How many grains of powder in that load?

28.5grs of CFE 223 loaded in RP brass with WSR primers. Just used this load yesterday to explode a magpie at 150yds. A nasty amount of feathers and pieces went flying everywhere in what snow we have left. This is a MAX load so work up with caution.
