Looking for a custom set of 1911 grips and wondering if there any industrious woodworkers out there will to either make a pair from scratch, or take existing plain wood grips and etch, carve or burn a design into them, followed by a clearcoat. If I can't find someone who is skilled and willing to take my money I may have to try my hand at carving or burning. Pm or post. My money's good.

Someone was doing CNC grips out of wood and then aluminum. Not sure if he's finalized the process but he did have a couple "beta" grips done up and they looked nice. Don't have the thread handy but a search should turn it up.

Watch out for some of these types of grips. They're basically clear acrylic grips with a sicker backing that eventually starts breaking down when it gets in contact with oils etc.
I'm basically looking for nice wood grips and having a character etched, carved or burned into them. I could even do the clear coat. Just wondering if any woodworkers or crafty folks do it already. I may get some blank wood grips and do it myself (which I will post progress pics of here if I do). I just wouldn't mind having it done well by an experienced person. Thanks for the info tho.

I got a set from Bernie with my company Logo on one side and the Branding name on the other.
Real nice and super clean. very, very reasonable. They're in Toronto.
