Anybody running a Piggyback?

Awhile ago I grabbed a used Piggyback already on a press. I finally got around to trying to get it back together....and of course its short a few pieces. RCBS says no parts available, but for $50 of labor, they'll convert to Piggyback II. I can't remember what I've got into it.

Anyone running one of these have an opinion? And yes, I've had thought on drinking the blue koolaid

Many years ago bought a used one.
It's what drove into buying a Hornady LNL AP.
Indexing a huge pain and that makes plastic parts wear out faster. No patience for it.
There's a reason no parts are not available. Imagine if something else breaks in a short while.
Happy with the LNL AP. it's Dillion 650 capable for the price of a 550

I have 2 of them on the RCBS single press, one setup for 45acp the other 9mm, they are a pain to get working but I like mine, loaded lots of ammo, the only issues I have are the primer feed, the plastic holder/slide goes out of alignment easy to catch
 
I am using a piggyback II for loading 9mm and I am happy so far. Bought it used 2 years ago and have loaded about 18,000 rounds with it. Had no issues at all setting it up but it does have its quirks.
If i run it too fast it will flip primers upside down. The plastic part that holds the primer tube tips sideways sometimes and won't feed. I think the main nylon bearing in the top centre of the press is getting worn because i now have to watch to make sure it indexes properly. If I replace it I am sure it will be fine.
RCBS is great for customer service. They send me free replacement parts for a press I bought second hand.

I also Dont use the powder linkage and throw the powder lever by hand. If the press hiccups or I have to double clutch it to knock out an old primer, I don't get a double charge of powder.

I have read that the piggyback II is better than the first and I like mine even if they are not well known anymore. If it were mine I would have it serviced. Later you could sell it or just use the rockchucker that is attached underneath.

I have used the Piggyback for 20 years, it can be a bit fiddly at times to set up but does the job.
It has loaded pistol .32 to .45 ACP including 44 mag and .222 and .223 rifle without issue.
RCBS has been great with customer support.

After trying the fixes linked to in post #6, and still having the problem of the index going further off with every lever pull, I decided to loosen the case retaining screws too see if there was still some drag from the bearing.
No drag with the case retainer springs loose. Eureka!
Took a while to adjust the four screws just enough to hold a case in the 2nd to 5th shell plate positions and still have proper indexing. Looks promising for getting another press back in operation.
