Anybody currently sporting a Fobus roto holster? Does the draw angle that you set lock adequately? Anybody got any pics? I'm planning to get a Fobus holster for IPSC for my P99 and need some input. Also, how are Fobus holsters rated in terms of scratching/altering the finish of the slide?

Thanks!

I don't have the Roto, but I have the paddle style one. I like this one, and the draw angle is pretty good on it. Personally, I don't see the point of having the roto one, it's just extra money as far as I'm concerned. As far as scratching, I've only used mine a few times, and it doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure someone else will have more input, but that's my 2 cents..

There are lots better holsters out there, look at Blade Tech, Safariland or Wilson Tactical. The hard plastic of the Fobus wore through the finish on my Glock slide pretty quickly.

I bought the Fobus paddle holster that accomodates a light or laser. Unfortunately, it sheared in half after a couple range trips. I've just sent it back on warranty for replacement. Looks like defective molding... I called fobus for warranty and was not hassled. Just told to ship it back and they would send me a new one.

I love the ergonomics of it. I hope I just had a dud the first time round. Round 2 better work a lot better.

I have two of them, one for my XD in 9, the other for my 1911. I really like them, the retention is positive, but still releases well, once set, the angle stays set (though it can be forced if you really want to, drawing or normal use won't move it). I like the option of playing with the angle, if you don't know what you like, its a great way to experiment. I find any kydex holster marks my springfield 1911, (apparently the blue is about .00000000001 of an inch thick) but I've shot a fair bit of IDPA with the XD and it shows no marks. I like them. That being said, I have bladetech's for my revolvers and like them alot as well.

Have used one for my USP 45 over the last four months. Quality rig. The angle I set has stayed locked the whole time. Only issue has been some small wear on the edge of my slide. You can't beat it for the price.

The advantage of a roto say is the ability to use it in a number of applications. Carry on the strong side or since it rotates, move it to the weak side for a cross draw or cross draw in vehicle, just adjust the rake!! Although I have heard they are a little hard on the finish, if that isn't an issue, have at 'er!!

Since the consensus is that there is a little bit of wear on the slide with the Fobus, what brand of holsters minimize such wear? I assume leather and other supple materials would be good at preserving the finish of the slide.

all holsters will wear the finnish,(some faster then others)i use the fobus roto for my glock, shot quite a few matches with it and it's ok i guess, retention is a bit harsh for fast draw,i am switching to leather
