Curious if there any members who own or have shot the STI ARs? Have my name reserved for one that's due in about 6 months and wondering if its the right thing or is there something else you'd recommend? Intrigued by the accuracy claims.
Will mostly be target shooting and competing with buddies who have various AR stuff, ( Hk SL8, RA XCR, etc).

You'll do fine with it. A few members here have them and I personally cannot recall hearing any issues from anyone.

The only issue, if at all, is they do not have M4 feed ramps.

Id prefer the Tactical model myself.

I recently picked up the Tactical variant on trade, and while having minimal time to fondle / get behind it as of yet, I am very happy with it.

The finish is excellent, and the rifle balances very well. It's almost a shame to think about modifying it and throwing off the current setup. One thing I WILL change, is the nordic tactical compensator, while very effective at eliminating muzzle rise is BRUTAL on the ears, even for the shooter. I had earplugs in last weekend, and my ears are still ringing.

I find the lack of discussion about them confusing, since they have been out since 2009. I suppose that could be good, as nobody has been complaining either.

Thanks, that's good to know, that its really loud in stock form. I guess the next question is, did you find it more accurate then a regular, off the shelf standard AR?

Chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56mm NATO (depending on customer and application), the 16″ 410 SS barrel features a 1:8 twist with a mid-length gas system.

I think what the upgraded benefit is that the barrel is a different twist rate and that it is a Stainless Steel option.

Better than off the shelf? I think thats what this is. Shoot better? Depends on you.

I think its a good buy.

I'm really not the person to ask about ground breaking accuracy. From what I've read tho you're looking at better than "off the shelf" if you do your part and have the right ammo.

Mine is awesome.very nice trigger...fit is very tight. Gun barely moves with the comp. i think i would have got tge tactical model so i did not have to add rails.great value.

Where did you find jp rails? Or did you use a different brand? I'm trying really hard not to want a high speed rail system because I really like the current balance. I'd give up some weight for being able to mount some things However

Me and my two shooting buddies have shot one for a while. I recently upgraded the upper to a 3G, but still have the lower.

The rifle has great value for the price....decent trigger, decent comp and accurate as any other. Throw on a good optic and you're there. (I switched out the stock since I am not a fan of fixed stocks).

I ordered mine from freedom ventures and was really happy with the service.
