Anyone bought a gun from Wholesale Sports?

Store

Please try Ellwood Epps......

Wholesale sports is fine, but I mostly deal with Epps because they have what I need. If they don't my man "Mac" hunts it down for me. It is the absolute best customer I have ever recieved from any gunstore. :dancingbanana:

Sure I pay for shipping changes, but I'd rather do that and have the stuff rather than get a "oh...that's not in stock at the moment. Call back in 6 months, maybe it will be here".

Ellwood contacts me when my stuff is on it's way or coming in. I don't have to chase the store. The store chases me. Isn't that how it's suppose to be ? Business's try to get customers and make them happy ???

Ellwood Epps is the only gunshop I've found with the "customer first" attitude. I'm tired of the "you'll have to wait" gunstores and gunsmith's.

I've bought guns from Wholesale, but in person. I only deal with one salesman. And judging by what I read and what "you" should read in other threads, I'd be scared to.

What is the hourly salary of a Wholesale Sports salesman, about the same as a Wendy's or Timmy's employee maybe. So howcome it is that they act like their #### doesn't stink?

Why don't you contact the fellow that arch1965 recommends or Dave Henry in Bentley, he has new guns for sale.

Been working in EDM. for a couple months. Today was my first day off in a month of 12+hr days. Swung by WS at about noon to do my secret santa shopping, only to find them closed on Sundays.

Before Chistmas.

In December.

I'm not making this up.

Now, I understand everyone likes a day off, but if anyone from WS is here, take a look at the tracks outside the door in the fresh snow that fell Sat night.

You know what that well packed loop passed the store hours sign means? It means people are taking their money elsewhere.

Sorry for the hijack. I'll leave now.

I just picked up a new Mtn Rifle LSS in 7-08 from Russells in Calgary. I called Wholesale and they didn't have one in stock. Russell's had 2 and they were 10 bucks cheaper. I asked the guy at Russells about the Wholesale buyout and he said it happened three months ago. Sounds like they will be operating under the Russell's name still as two seperate entities owned by one company. It sucks that there is less competition. Hopefully they don't end up with the same prices at both.

I've purchased a few guns from Wholesale sports but in person. My friend, his wife and I only ever deal with one person. He is knowledgable and willing to help. I've ran into him at the outdoor shooting range a few times and he's always offered me reasonable advice which I appreciate. One time I couldnt get my friends Remmy semi auto 22 to fire correctly (kept jamming) so he helped me out as well. I've talked to a few guys at Russel sports in the past which have also been pretty good. They really seem to push the BRNO line of firearms. Glenn from Russel Sports installed my timney trigger and the service was excellent. No complaints from me.

Great place to go and just "explore".

I've only ever bought used from the Calgary store...2 out of 3 times the gun required verification (probably registered online). Why wouldn't they verify all their consignments? They have their own verifier whom (as I was bluntly told) only does verification of in-store items. I've personally witnessed "bait and switch" tactics disguised as advice. That being said, it's more than just a gun store and they have the best prices on Pendleton wool blankets in the city:rolleyes:

Wholesale has bought out Russel's John. Still the same staff more or less. I hope they don't phase it out and close the doors. I considered them far superior too.

Not to hijack the thread, but when did this happen? I absolutely loved the service I used to get from Russels...sucks that they're now part of the Wholesale Sports group!:(

I bought 1 rifle from them and they screwed around. They waited and waited for CFC to call back and confirm. I called CFC and they said they did confirm. One of them were lying (most likely WS because I caught them on other orders later) but none the less, why did WS not follow up? Why was I making the calls and whipping their ass in gear?

It would still be sitting there 3 years later if I let them have their way.

I ordered a rifle from them in 2001 and had to have them delay shipping for three weeks as I was out of the country and wouldn't be home to receive it. Told them I would be back on a certain day, and the rifle arrived the next day. Gotta love that.

Recently this past spring, I was trying to get a Ruger #1H in 405 Win. Best price I could find was WS. Placed the order and they said they had one in stock. A couple days later they called and said it was on back order and did I want the rest of the order shipped. The woman I spoke with on the phoen was more than pleasant and helpful. We looked up about another 15 rifles and calibres, and I wound up waiting for the #1. They were helpful both times, and the price was great -- shipping was around the 20-25 $ mark IIRC.

Now with a store in Wpg, I will likely do more shopping in person. There is at least one guy behind the counter there that knows his stuff. I appreciate not having to educate the sales staff for them. :D

I bought my Handi-Rifle from them, when it arrived the bore was dirty. I think this is pretty pathetic.

More than likely, like most new rifles..it has been pre-fire tested, usually a hot load.

With you being a mail order customer, I'll ask you a simple favour.

Please try Russel's first, P&D Enterprises 2nd, and Ellwood Epps 3rd, before you try WS.

This is coming from a WS retail customer. I go there sometimes after I've exhausted my #1 and #2 choises. The times I've purchased from WS are when they're the only ones who carry what I want, or they're the only ones who have it in stock.

I realize that MO and retail are different, but if RS or Ellwood's get the business, it will reflect in their profits and market share...

I've gotten items cheaper else where often or at least matched. I even had shops match on rifles in 100 Mile House, Lone Butte, and Vanderhoof of all places.

Thats great...The only rifles I've seen that were cheaper or equal so far, were Tikka T3's...At P&D Ent.

This was just posted on Huntshoot about T3 rifles.

Also when I purchased the rifle I got prices from wholesale sports and 3 other sporting goods shops in the northern interior here and all 3 places came in cheaper than wholesale sports so it might not hurt to look around.

My M700 LVSF price was matched by Lone Butte Sporting Goods as well as Gatehouse's.

I've found some of the help at Edmonton WSS to be ranging from incompetent to dangerously incompetent.

There's one or two good gun-counter guys. It's best to go when it's slow.

And NO, whatever you want won't be in stock.:runaway:
