Anyone bought a gun from Wholesale Sports?

Staff at WS aren't salesman, just customer rep's..so don't expect perfection.
For other gun stores, well! I've some of the funniest BS & lies so they could sell you a gun. Incompentence vs lying to me??

I live on the East Coast and ordered a NEF bull barrel 243.Two weeks later I called to see where it was and it hadn't left the warehouse yet .It showed up 3 1/2 weeks after I ordered it. Very disappointing plus I didn't get the hammer extender like stated in the ad. I called back to see where it was and they said they'd call back .Six months later still waiting.I guess that's why the last 2 guns were from SIR

Since moving to Calgary, just about all of my firearms have been bought at WS. The one I did buy at Russells did not impress me much with the service. One thing I have learned is if I am looking to buy a firearm or something that needs to come from the behind the counter, never shop at WS on a weekend!
Figure out what I want and then go in on a weekday and have no probs with getting service :p
I find P&D's prices are very high. Not at all competitve with WS or SIR.

I've been pretty happy with WS sports. Bought several guns.

They must have a pretty narrow profit margin to sell at their prices so I suspect they can't pay top wages for expert employees. Therefore, I do not expect "Kiss ass" service. I can live with OK service, that's what I'm paying for.

I ordered a Weatherby Vanguard online. Ten days later they called to tell
me it was on back order. This was on a Thur. I told them I didn't want it,but
ordered a Rem XCR 375H&H instead. The following Mon. I called about something else. The woman giggled and told me there was no record of that
order. Placed the order again. A week before gun arrived, a guy from
Wholesale called to get my credit card info., as they had lost it. Finally got
my gun. If yu buy from them, then pick gun out online. Then call the order in. Request that it be shipped by UPS. Parcel post takes forever.
The bottom line is there heads are up there butts at this time.

Good luck!

I was at a wss today and the person who "helped" us should be ashamed of themselves. kept telling me a free floated stock could get stuck on something and pull apart from the stock:rolleyes: he then picked it up and demonstrated how the barrel can be pulled away from the stock. ummm okay:confused:

All my rifles are free floated and I have never had this problem. what a goofball.

Going to a larger wss, you can expect a 20-30 minute delay before getting served. Royal pain in the A$$.

I order from SIR and do not have any problems. I have not ordered form wss, so I cannot comment on their mail order service.

I have the worst luck in the world in WS. After a good long wait, I always end up talking to a over-confident person who has a hard time talking with you. They just want to lecture with the pay attention to me attitude.

If WS is my only choice I just might go without.

P&D get my first phone call. Best service, staff and all around nice place to visit.

wholesale

I am a leftie-yeah, I know, cursed from birth. I was looking for a lh 30-06 ss, preferably a Ruger 77. Wholesale was the only one had one (actually 2) in Western Canada. Took a week longer than I thought but I got it. One dealer told me I could expect a 2 year wait. Russells said they were on order. Time frame could be 6 months. All the local dealers had stock on order but had no idea when to expect. This was March this year. Dwight was very helpful and I had no problems. Bought some ammo from them and Russells with about the same results-I went shooting. Also bought all my reloading stuff from them and prices were about the best and they had everything. Had a friend going to Lethbridge so he picked it up for me. Bought a Leupie VxIII 2.5-8 and a Bushnell 4200 4-16 and had both in a week and prices were all better than I could get in BC never mind the stinking taxes.

wholesale II

Forgot something-govt gave me lots of money in March so I went looking for a Ruger no 1 in 223. Russells doesnt even list one. I checked out the Manuf sites and knew it existed and yes, Wholesale had one. Mine now.

In two of the other hobbies I partake in there are definitive lists of suppliers, dealers, manufacturers, etc., with phone numbers, email and addresses, websites, etc. It is a huge asset and kept up to date by a good samaritan.

Is there any kind of a list of similar nature anywhere for the firearms industry? Especially in Canada?

I am hearing of WS, BOE, FARTS, etc., but have no idea who we are speaking of here, nor how to contact them for pricing. It would be a great asset to locate a good list.

TIA

Well, you could check out the ads at the top of your screen too. Wholesale Sports, SIR, P and D Ent, etc but it also depends on the kind of stuff you are looking for. Is it tactical or regular firearms etc? Best way is to just ask when you cannot find what you want on one of these forums. Answers will come quickly. These forums are goldmines but you have to ask the question first. I have bought 2 rifles from Wholesale and was quite happy that they had the damn things and that I got them quickly at a better price than I could find anywhere. Great place for reloading stuff too but I buy powder and primers locally.

Well to put it simply i hate wholesale sports, they have a good selection but the service is terrible, i just bought a 300 wby mag from them with a bushnell 3200 elite 3-9x50, when i first went to pick up the gun and scope i looked through the scope and found that it was not mounted properly, the verticle cross hair was not verticle, it was slightly off to one side, they took it back and did their thing again and i took it home i set up at one hundred yards with a target stapled to a 4x8 sheet of plywood, first shot was not even on the plywood, i removed the bolt and checked the bore sight it was waaaaaaay out, i walked up and checked the bore sight at 25 yards, still way out, i removed the caps and found the scope was cranked within 5 clicks of its max elevation, after i bore sighted it myself, i set my zero at 300 yards and i love the rifle, but as for wholesales service you might as well mount and bore sight your own scope cause obviously they dont have a clue. Or they did it on purpose cause i complained about the fact that the scope was mounted wrong in the first place, either way they have lost me as a customer. And dont even get me started about what happened when i went to pay for the gun. This was in Edomnton by the way.

Frankly, I wouldnt usually trust a store to do that kind of stuff. I take it to the range, set the rifle on the rest and take the bolt out if it has one that is removeable. Sight through the bore and set up the scope that way. But then, I like to do this myself. Too many newbies in a store like that- they have been understaffed for some time and IMHO that is asking for trouble. Keep it minimal-long as I get my stuff. It is just a store after all. I dont expect a lot so I am seldom disappointed. If they have it and nobody else does then I am going there. That happens frequently enough that I check there first now after asking my local dealer to give him a shot at it.
