I'm looking into casting my own lead bullets for my .40, but it's fussy about flat nosed bullets.
I'd love to be able to buy a handful of bullets from someone who uses a lee 6 cavity mold so I could try them before I buy a mold and sizer that might not be any use to me.
Anyone using a lee mold? Anyone else having feeding issues with .40 flat nose?
I have a Norc cz clone, and it burn through XTP's like they were free, but unfortunately they are'nt!

I have a CZ clone and a real one. They both shoot the 155SWC and the 180 FP just fine. Both have short throats so the bullets have to be seated deep enough that almost no cylindrical section is showing.

Not a Lee but have used the Lyman 175gr 401638 mold in a 4 cavity

You will want to slug your barrel and you want Slug size Plus .001 to .002 when you run it through a Sizer

A Tumble lube bullet will not cut it in a High pressure 40 cal major load --- (target load yes/ major load no)

I'm just looking for something cheap and reliable, will be running them very light. I have some Berry's flat nose hollow points from
Budget shooter supply. The 1st thousand I got had the odd hang up on the feed ramp, but the 2nd thousand have a different profile. The nose seems to be wider. I was going to buy a thousand Berry's round nose, but Budget does'nt have them and I'd like to try
casting some bullets myself.(I used to cast for my .44 in the UK)

try custom reloading if you still want to use the berry's round nose.

otherwise i would suggest going to the cast boolits forum and ask around there, i'm sure you will find someone you can buy a couple of various molds to try out.

although i must warn you of the group buy section, another way to spend your money before you have it :) at least the molds generally take 6months or more to be made and shipped.

i've since bought 3 molds (mihec and NOE) and am on the list for another one.

I use the Lee TL401-175-SWC six cavity. As received it cast undersized, so I have lapped and beagled the mould to get it to cast 10.23mm (.402+). I need to sit down and cast a thousand or so for the upcoming year. Right now I have very few on hand. How many do you want?
