Anyone developped a good combo for 9mm JR Carbine?

I want to give to my JR the best, for accuracy... I was so surprised actually of the accuracy of my JR at 100 yards, but as any reloader, I want to have more ;)

Any good bullet with good results? What can be the "best" that can achive the JR with optimal load/bullet combination?

Actually, not hard to group 6" at 100 yards, with factory Remington ammo.

EvilDark - Got one of those JR 9's. But I've only been reloading for it for a few months. I've tried two powders - Unique and TiteGroup.

Using 4.1 Gr of Unique under 124Gr plated gave me pretty good results at 25, acceptable results (3" Group) at 50, but never did find any holes on the backstop, much less the paper, at 100 - those things must have dropped like a stone.

For Titegroup - I've tried 4.0Gr and got excellent results at both 25 and 50. I saw about a 6.5" drop in POI on the same target format at 50 yards as I was using at 25, but the groups were still pretty good, didn't measure but looked about maybe 2.50 inches on 3 shots. Note that the max recommended load on the Hodgdon data table is 4.1 Grains under 124 Grain bullet - I normally don't load up that close to the max recommended but the JR didn't have any issues with it. It was getting dark so I didn't got out to 100 to see if it would at least hit the backstop on the Titegroup loads.

The thing I really liked about the Titegroup over the Unique is it seems to be a much cleaner burn - with the Unique, black residue EVERYWHERE. With the Titegroup, I didn't see anywhere near the powder residues.

I'm going to drop back down on the powder for the Titegroup loads, it seems that with just the few I shot at a couple of smaller charges were a bit tighter than at the higher load (it was starting to open up a bit).

As always - start with lower powder charges and work your way up, I am only relaying what I've gone through, and I started lower when trying both powders! Your mileage may vary - as the weasel words say.

Thanks for sharing! I'm used to reload, so thanks for the security advice anyway ;)

I currently have the Bullseye powder, so I will work on it and share my results. As the temperature isn't so friendly here in quebec, I don't know when I will be able to test something... Also I'm Using a copy of ACOG scope, 4x, not that friendly at 100 yards, but as I said, I did roughly 6" with this setup at 100 yards. So I'm pretty sure to be able to improve this with hand loads! (Or at least repeat it...)

I just changed the hand rail, and for this I needed to remove the barrel and add a new barrel nut spacer. Hope I did'nt mess it up with this swap...

Is Bullseye power is a clean one?

Hey, Dark.

Force of habit on my part to do the disclaimer on starting low - I have this aversion to lawsuits!

On the Bullseye, I've never reloaded with it so no opinion, sorry! The unique powder is fairly slow-burning, I'm told, which may be why I'm getting so much residue. I am really impressed with the Titegroup (the guy who owns the store where I bought my JR recommended it when I first started reloading the 9mm for it, but didn't have any in stock - he just got a small shipment in a few weeks ago, I grabbed a pound (wish I could have grabbed more) and tried it with excellent results, both for reductions in residue and for the results on the paper.

And, yeah, it's darned cold here too.l

Remember your Jr will be different then the next one and what will be accurate in one may not be accurate in the other. Titegroup is a great powder the only powders I've ever liked more are the powders from VV

I've been able to achieve 3" at 100 yards with my JR at the best, 4" on average. I used a load with a Berry's 124gr round nose plated bullet and Bullseye. Like others have said though, work up from the starting load. A safe load for my pistol with bullseye looked like it was quite hot out of my JR.
