Anyone else getting a Trojan Horse Virus warning on Milsurps.com?

No current issues noted. Thanks for the prompt open response Badger :)

Thanks for the feedback ... :)

We appreciate everyone helping us maintain a secure and enjoyable environment for the benefit of the entire collector community. To be honest, in the last year the amount of virus intrusions and spammers using malware has increased to levels I've not seen before on the Internet. Attempts to hack vBulletin software are on the rise and malicious users who try to bring down sites for sport have become commonplace. Without members helping us monitor this type of activity, we'd be forced to close the site to guest access and use special front end security to restrict access to registered members only. I'd hate to do that as our mission is to provide free research and access to everyone who loves our hobby.

IMILSURPS is just fine..... but I don't know how to tell this %$&&$# machine that!

Hi George .. :)

It sounds to me like either a false positive coming from a combination of Opera and its interaction with java code, or, it could actually be some spammer's malware on your specific computer, picked up and still resident (or loading). I'd recommend you get Microsoft Security Essentials (free) and run it again your machine with a FULL scan and see if it locates and gives you the option to clean it up. If it doesn't find anything, then you must be getting a false positive indication.

If twostream is sitting across from you on a different machine and isn't experiencing issues, then I suspect it's the former problem.

Hope that helps partner ..

Doug

By the way, while we're on this topic and just in case some of you don't know, there are supposed antivirus software products offered FREE for Windows machines, that are in fact fakes.

Here's one example ...

Antivirus Monitor is a fake security program that blocks Windows legitimate applications, hijacks Internet Explorer, displays false information that your computer is infected with viruses, trojans and malware. The software pretends to be a legitimate antivirus but, in reality, it is a totally scam!

Antivirus Monitor is a malicious program from the same family of malware as AntiMalware GO, AntiVira Av, Antivirus .NET, Antivirus Scan and Antivirus Action. It is unable to detect and remove any infections! The program “detects” numerous false infections in order to trick you into purchasing so-called full version of the software. Thus, do not pay for Antivirus Monitor, simply ignore all that the bogus software will display you.

Like other fake security software, the authors of Antivirus Monitor use various misleading methods to distribute their bogus software, e.g. trojans, various misleading programs, social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc) and spam emails. Please be careful when opening attachments and downloading files or otherwise you can end up with a rogue program on your computer. Remember that the rogue is a highly dangerous application and you need remove Antivirus Monitor as soon as possible!

So, before you install a program you think is going to protect you, or if already infected, clean up the infection, make sure it's legitimate. :D

Doug

Just turned things on, went to milsurps dot com.

ZERO problems, everything normal.

Just the way it is intended to be.

Wheeew!

I'm running Windows 7 and am on the site daily a dozen times. I've never even seen the warning you all speak of. My anti virus and spyware is purchased and not downloaded so I know what I got. No problems.

No problems now with a Trojan.
I also purchase my virus/spyware software, not a freebie download.

Glad it's back to normal.
