I hate duplex reticles. The have always given me headaches.

My Eyes seem to get confused or have trouble focusing between the thicker and thinner area of the cross-hair.

I would prefer if the vertical hair ended half way up from the bottom instead of covering the top of the field of View.

I did have PRK laser eye correction a few years ago, but think I still didn't enjoy the duplex before that.

Does anyone else prefer not to use the duplex crosshair?

Any Opinions? or Experiences?

I love duplex reticles for their simplicity. Nothing to get in my view. I had PRK last December, and think I like them more now that everything is just oh so crisp!

Different strokes for different folks, I would say!

I grew up with them so no problem here. I really like a duplex with a good elevation turret for varminting at longer distances.

The duplex reticle offers good versatility. Draws your eye to the center. Good for moving targets. Provides ok contrast in low light. With the addition of mildots it can serve as a rangefinder.

I have always used and liked duplex reticles but recently started getting into other designs with more subtensions and I like those as well.
OP it sounds like you would like a German #4 reticle. I have a 1-4x scope with one of those and they are very clean.

I don’t hate a duplex, but I do find them kind of boring these days. Like the open centre with 1/4 MOA dot and some nice fine hashmarks ala sightron etc. but you can range find with a duplex, Leupold has the info for their duplex.

Leupold Dot...

Pros: Tapered lines of Leupold Dot reticle easily and quickly lead your eye to the center dot. Fine lines around the center dot will not cover the target allowing precise aiming. Leupold Dot reticle is good for “running” shots.

Cons: Pretty fine lines and dot of Leupold Dot reticle are a little hard to see at first light or at the dusk. If there is dark background at this time the dot could disappear. Sometimes you loose the dot against the dark background if you are trying to follow the running target.

Duplex is fine for me as well.
I don't like the duplex that have a very small center + hair, prefer the 30/30 type.

Try a Wide duplex. The opening is much wider (thin crosswires are longer) than a standard duplex. At the end of the day, there are many good reticles, but the Duplex is by far the most popular.

Nothing like a wide duplex for low light hunting. I expect there are two camps. Those that target shoot mostly & those that hunt only. For targets fine lines work well. For hunting I would never go with fine lines. For me the heavy duplex is best. Each to their own.
