Anyone else hate their Norinco M93?

Man, I am SO sick of hearing comments like that about Norincos. Okay, I haven't personally owned or even shot a M93... Just the 1911A1, and an M-305 (allegedly two of Nork's "better" copies of real firearms).

A crappy gun that fails to function is a crappy gun that fails to function! I don't care if it cost you $5 in comparison to an original at $1000...

Right... 'cause we all know Norinco's are the only brand of firearms which can "fail to function" or be fussy with some brands ammo.

Every other gun eats any kind of ammo, all the time, right?

Give me a break.

Norincos, for the most part, for the price are a bargain. My issues are not with FTF/FTE (the have ALWAYS done that for me) but more the finishing. Triggers may bite and you might slice your hand open as its sharp when you clean it, but they do exactly what they're supposed to do at a price that doesn't break the bank.
 
Ok my 2 cents on the Norinco m93

surprisingly accurate
eats mostly any type of high velocity
rear sights will need locktight
disassembly takes a couple of times to get the hang of it but its pretty straight forward

the only major downfall is the recoil spring does not allways stay retracted upon disassembly & can pop out of place making a confusing situation when trying to reasemble.

If you dont mind the finish... why spend 600 bucks on a new ruger or buckmark when the m93 will function just as well...

in my opinion its a steal of a deal.:D

Love their 1911's but if I want a Colt woodsman I'll buy the 'real deal'.... ;)
 
I have mine for several months now, but have't shot it much due to a move...:( I'd say for what I paid for it (new) it's a GREAT deal!

Never taked it apart (and don't plan to :D) and ony tried 2 types of ammo Dynapoits and Fed. Bulk latter worked better...

If Norincos were overpriced in Canada (like other brands) we'd be paying $500+ for their 1911s etc and $250 for the M92...I guess it's a good thing they aren't availabe in the US :eek:

You shouldn't have to accept FTF/FTE as the norm. There are plenty of guns out there that never experience FTF/FTE with quality ammo (well, at least when it comes to centerfire guns - I realize that .22s are a bit more tricky). I can honestly say that I've never had a single jam with any of the three semi-auto guns that I own. A jamomatic is never a good bargain, regardless of the price.

This might be a mistake. That chinese grease that clogs-up the innards needs to come out.

While you have it all apart, have a piece of 400 grit wet-or-dry and smooth some of the sharp edges and burrs. The carefully re-lube it and reassemble.
I think that will make the gun more reliable and long lasting.
I sure have no complaints about mine.
 
I fully agree with Col45gunner. There's a lot of truth to the old saying that you get what you pay for. That applies particularly to anything marked Norinco.
 
Take it apart and clean it.

When mine arrived it looked like a used pistol.

I disassembled it, and there were all sorts of "bits" in the mechanism.

Watch out for the recoil spring, it's a 1 hour job to figure out how it goes back in; but you need to clean the spring channel.

After a proper cleaning (and a cold blue touch-up) it has never jammed.

I also needed to loctite the rear sights and trim the magazine to get a proper release.

That said, if you are willing to be handy, it's $150 well spent. I bought it to be a gun for the GF to try shooting pistols.

I like it, and it was a fun project :p
 
Mine is an energizer bunny, just keeps going and going. Never had it apart yet, although I suspect in a few thousand rounds I will have to replace the recoil spring. I flushed mine out with brake clean (after removing the grips) then followed by WD-40, then wiped dry, oiled, light grease on the rails.
 
People are way too willing to put up with ####ty guns. I had a gun that should have been called a "malfer", that occcasionally ####ed up and fired a round or two. I shared my difficulty, and everybody chimed in "mine works great! I love it", but when questioned closely would say things like "It only fails to feed/stovepipes/lockes open on a full mag a couple times each range trip".
Zero is the only acceptable number of malfunctions. It's a ####ing gun!

I have the real deal. And a High Standard and a S&W, plus a half dozen other Colt 22s (oh yeah, and a Beretta). I have two 93s for newbies and kids. They work fine if you clean them, and watch what you feed them, and are a bargain for the cost. - dan
 
The only gun that has never malfunctioned on me is my Sig 226. I have seen BHP, 1911,CZ,Revolvers,SMG, Enfields,FNC1,C2, GPMG's, 3.5", Carl Gustav's, .50cal, 105 & 155mm Howitzers malfunction, hell even brand new Javalins ATGM, fail to work properly.
