Complete with locked gate...

Still no Grouse or Deer in my freezer. :(

I suppose you can call whoever is in charge with these things in BC (likely the Ministry) and then proceed... MAny times the postings are false, as they do not own the land and the lease soesn't allow them to lock the property, only to restrict hunting.
If they are not logging at that time, hunting should be permitted as well.
Does anyone else knows any different?

Same thing where I am in Ont.Because I work as a logger I am al for it.Not everyone is safe with a rifle.Nor does all hunters respect others stuff.Shooting up sighns and equipment not to mention stuff going missing.
This is what makes id bad for everbody.

the same thing is going on in many parts of nova scotia as well. most of the time the signs in my area take a few shotgun blasts and the locks get a few rifle bullets once in a while.

Right. So let's penalize everyone.

Sound familiar?

not due to logging but I am finding more private land being posted by owners :( . We don't have a whole lot of lease land around either :( :(

When you see the opening day gong show an hour NW of Calgary, you'll understand why
thank god it's still not that bad here..about 1 1/2 north and a hour east. I have seen what you are talking about though

im on van isle to its my first year hunting what area are you im in cr there has got to be lots of places still maybe alittle off the beaten track though

Southern Vancouver island is a differant situation.Imagine that the government in ontario gave all the timber areas(crown land) to the forest companies for them to use 100 years ago and now the roads in are closed except to company workers.no hunting no fishing.

Haven't seen that problem around where I go. Have seen lots of farms with "NO HUNTING" signs. Of course that where the 5 point bucks are! But on public land its clear of signs.

ya cr is great. they did have gates up and locked once but one of their guys had a heart attack and died less then ten minutes from where the ambulance was parked outside the locked gate. it has been open ever since!!! but on the downside the ignorant people to cheap to pay 5 bucks to dump their garbage at the dump tend to find the closest little alley in the bush to dump. that is bad for everyone. i just wish i would come across someone doing it one day. they would have their pic in the paper for sure. so the logging companies end up putting small gates for the first 10km to deter people from dumping or driving too far then dumping.

I love these threads, lets call it 2 worded education....COMMON SENSE !

1st off a good fact to know is in some areas in northern BC in13 hours and 150kms of roads there are upwords of 350 loads of logs being hauled on those roads , thats almost 27 loads per hour and a load every 2.2 minutes and we realy need to worry about you being in the middle of that

this is becoming a major thing in BC and every year someone gets mad because a new gate or signs are posted but then every year someones equiptment gets shot up or someone gets into a accident ;)

well how would you like to be in bed in a camp when all of a sudden you hear a loud BANG and your campshack rattles to find out that a deer was standing on the edge of a block and a hunter shot at it without knowing there was a camp 200 yards away over a little hill in a landing,
or how would you like to go to work on a monday morning to find your $50,000 skidder tires all flat because someone wanted to prove a 30-06 could shoot through those float tires,
or maybe it would be ok if you hunted in a block were they were working and got a log shoved through your truck because you were to buisy looking at the bushline and didnt see the proccesor working on that corner.
maybe so you could hunt there its ok that the rcmp get to tell someones wife/mother or father there child is dead after a accident were a logging truck colided with a hunter or took the ditch to avoid a collision and his/her load came through the cab and killed them because you didnt read the rules to that road and follow them, or decided look a deer lets stop in the middle of the road and chase it !
maybe we should stop working for 3 more months of the year so you can hunt , thats alright why am I aloud to make a living anyhow
maybe you dont care that that logging truck got a bullet in it because someone wanted that grouse on the road and didnt see or hear that logging truck comming around a corner 50 yards away

people get mad at the signs and gates but dont stop and think they are there for safety, YOURS and MINE , I am sure someone will have a comeback like they just do it to save the area for the loggers to hunt or they do it just to be @ssholes but whatever if that is your attitude then you are obviously one of the few that ruin it for everyone ;)

follow the rules posted at the begining of the roads that are left unlocked and save yourself the right to hunt there, act stoopid or see someone acting stoopid and not reporting them will lead to that road being locked as well or worse you not making it home bacause 75000kgs of logs just dusted your hunting truck because the driver had no clue you were even there (oh and I know tell the drivers to slow the hell down, that 50-70kmph is way to fast for hunters  )

and to the comment they cant legaly post those signs...well news flash we can and do for safety purposes of crews and equiptment working in the area
and all the people that matter aprove them , and yes I said the people that matter meaning you dont matter, its your ignorance to ignore those very signs that leads to gates being put up !

and to anyone thinking that loggers are just @sses with attitudes, well if your planning on hunting in the lakes district BC this fall for open moose, give me a PM I will gladly take you for a ride in the logging truck in and back out of the bush and show you the other side of the story :)

Well Said, here in Alberta we have lots of access to crown land via Oil service roads. The companies first responsibility is the safety of their employees, I haven't found to many instances where the signs aren't protecting active work sites.

Bingo!

Also IMHO the safety, and liability issue is an excuse as most hunters have insurance through their clubs.
Besides which these companies let their employees hunt in there, and they have the gate keys. :(

Areas in Light Green no hunting...

Divide the rest up with National Parks, the occasional Indian reservation, and developments/urban areas, and you get the idea...now super impose the Hunting synopsis maps over top. :(

Also the future of this land?

How about some big fines for people or companies caught putting up signs or locking gates when they don't have the legal right to deny access to the public?

yup your insurance will bring back someones father when you run a loaded truck off the road or get killed yourself ! oh and your clubs insurance will NOT cover you for being in a restricted area or following posted rules for road use , but I am sure you will be back with a pic of another locked road asking why

what did I say about the few that think they are beyond the signs?

yup we just break laws to make your whole couple weeks of hunting hell each year on the logging roads

anyhow have fun with the thread, but remember this I and many others do print and hand these threads into the companies safety board and show just how many ignorant hunters there truly are in BC ;)
