Anyone else love enfield sporter?

I have my grandfathers parker hale and I have a no4 lb that my uncle made a stock for both keepers

How did you install that scope mount actually?? That is actually one pretty looking Enfield scout

I prefer my long Lee sporters for some reason but also have a couple smle that are great shooters and waiting for Tuesday as I have a sporter p14.. Coming... Some days I'm glad the wife doesn't pay attention to the gun room

My father had one like that. First big rifle I ever shot.

He loaned it to a friend and we never saw it again.

the scope mount is from S&K...they offer scout forward mounts for both weaver and in-house rings...it needed a bit of machining to fit exactly, but it was close

the stock is a Boyd's model for #1...it required a good amount of shaving to get to fit...and then it was dramatically shortened to lighten it up and make it proportional to the trimmed barrel...the front sight was slowly ground out to fit the new bbl diametre

tomorrow i have a piece of brass plate picked up for me to fit between the fore stock and the wrist band and for a butt plate, and i will drill and remount a brass butt disc to match...

and i will put a cheap williams peep just over the chambre

the rifle already is outfitted to take a sling just forward of the magazine for a nylon ching sling setup

just messing around

it shoots very well...and is really more of a trainer for scout config than anything...uses 185 gr cast bullets

I like the sporters. If they are cut and done nicely. I had a no4 mk1 I really liked, with the great rear peep sight. I sold it for some reason but decided I should own one again and found this one. I really like it. I also wonder where it came from, and who did the work ......

I bought a 2 groove Savage at auction for $55 with the intent of making a short hunting rifle. I bobbed the barrel at 19in, found a No.5 stock and moved the swivel to the other side. Took a middle band and heated it up so it also pointed to the left hand side. Carries great and comfy with the issue sling. It's about time for it's 5 year tear down and repaint!
I bought it when I was 19, I recently turned 51
