Anyone else notice something exciting here?

Friend of mine got a Glock in 357 Sig. I was surprised at how powerful it is. That round is no joke.
Much like the 10mm that it stole the case from it has some serious power for a semi auto handgun cartridge. Sadly unlike the 10mm which seems to have had a resurgence in recent years the 357sig seems to be falling out of favor (if you could ever call it in favor in the first place...)

Having shot the 357Sig, I'd call it a criminally under rated round. I get why it isn't overly popular, it is seriously powerful and most people aren't gong to be able to handle that in a full sized pistol, let alone a compact.

IMO the 10mm is going to suffer the same fate it did back in the 80's. A ton of wannabes will jump on that bandwagon, cause its "cool" and real men shoot powerful cartridges and when they get a taste of full power 10mm ammo they will quickly learn the difference between hype and real life. The 40 AE is dying and it is way less powerful than the 10mm.

A friend of mine did exactly that with a 45-70 Guide Gun. Just had to have one .... because. Very quickly discovered that full power 45-70 in a small, lightweight gun is NO FUN at all. That gun got sold off pretty fast.

10mm's resurgence is over a decade old now and not slowing down. I doubt it will die again, at least not to the degree seen before. It nearly disappeared.

Yup, I already load for 10mm + have lots of components ... I would use for dangerous game photography as well - the shorty 12 pump is very versatile etc, but this just may fit the bill better; slung across back + easy access. Just need 10mm rubber bullet option hmmm ...

After watching some disassembly videos on the .45ACP LC carbine, I was completely turned off by how thin and narrow the mystery grade aluminum upper receiver gets under the ejection port. It screams failure point to me. It's right where 10/22 receivers crack, and that's just from the measly .22LR recoil.

The recoil of .45ACP, or worse yet, 10mm with that behemoth two piece bolt against a hard stop (as in, not a recoil buffer tube), in a new unproven design from Ruger is a definite pass for me. I hope I'm wrong.

I have the 10MM in the GP-100. As unscientific as the following is shooting 200 gr bullets in 10MM and .357Mag in my Ruger GP-100's felt recoil and results hitting milk jugs is virtually identical. In a handgun using a pistol, with the additional capacity the 10 MM makes a lot of sense for Wilderness carry. I have the revolver and carry it in a chest rig. Less rounds then a pistol but it is what I have.

In a long gun for defensive purposes in the wilderness a 12 gauge shotgun with slugs is, IMHO a better option than a PCC in 10MM or even 44mag. If you must have a PCC then why not a lever action in 44mag or 45/70. Again for defensive purposes.

I like the 10MM cartridge in my revolver but truthfully the cartridge doesn't offer much more than the 357Mag in a revolver. The 10MM wqorks better in a semi due to it's rimless case. If you must have a carbine in a PCC for the mystical "bear" protection so many worry about, the 10MM works as well as any pistol cartridge does. Not my first choice for a shoulder based firearm but we all have our preferences and that's a good thing.

Personally I would wait until after the next election. Trudeau can do a lot of BS stuff before we get to kick him to the curb.
