Hey all. Just curious if anyone else is trying RL23 in the 280Rem. I see lots of talk of use in it in the AI but not the 280. Alliant does not offer any load data for it in the 280, but lots in the 270. It should be a great powder for the 280 with 140-175gr bullets but just curious if anyone else is testing it and could share the results.

So far in a Sako AV and rem700 classic my results are OK. I have not yet tested velocity but accuracy is going to the Rem with a 1.5" group shooting 150gr Sierra Game Changers. The sako would make a blunder bust giggle with a 4" group with the same load so curious if I should maybe try a heavier bullets as the 160gr Federal TBT (IMR4831) shot under 1" with the Sako and a 1/2" group with the rem with 1 flyer 1.5" away.

I should note the Rem 700 Classic is Pillar and Glass bedded and sporting a 22" 9.25 ROT barrel.
The Sako is Glass bedded and has a 24" 1-10 ROT barrel.

Next I will try the 140gr Federal TBT with RL23 for accuracy as I do not have any 160gr bullets on hand and originally planned on using the same bullet in the 280 and 7mm-08.

Thanks for any info and ill be sure to post my findings once I hit the range again. its a only 32+ humidity so will be waiting for a cooler morning or evening.

Thanks all
Josh

Re19 with 140 grain Barnes TTSX. Remington 700 BDL SS; manufactured in 1994 and bought new in 1998.
Started with the objective of reaching or exceeding 3000 fps and then sent the turret to Korth's.
This load does not drop below the 2000 fps threshold until about 475 yards.
With the accuracy and velocity just not willing to switch.

I like RL23, works great in my 22cm, 6cm, 6.5 PRC, 280 Ackley and 308 Norma. No reason why it shouldn't give good results in a 280 Rem
