Anyone else want an M&P in 10mm Auto?

I have an M&P45 and love the thing. It fits my small hands very well, shoots much softer than my 1911 and I like the trigger better than other plastic pistols. The only thing that could improve it would be to have another one in 10mm Auto. Is this insane and does anybody else think it would be a great gun in that caliber? Has anyone heard of a conversion kit for the M&P40 or 45?

M&p 40 won't work. 10mm won't fit in the mags. People have wanted a 10mm m&p 45 for a while. I ended up buying a gen 4 glock 20 and have no regrets.

So it would have to be the M&P45 to accommodate the length of the cartridge. I find the grip on the G20 to be far too big and blocky for my hands or I would probably own one.

The gen 4 is smaller, and with a little effort I find it's not much of a problem with my stubby fingers. It doesn't fit one handed like a 1911, but after adjusting to the g20, i find the larger grip gives my weak hand more surface area, which helps to get a proper 2 handed grip. I have to reposition less with the glock even though the 10mm has more recoil. I have an m&p 40 vtac, which felt like the perfect gun when I started shooting. I've now come to appreciate the glock grip. As a noob, I shot the m@p better. With 10k rounds under my belt, and an understanding of pistol dynamics, ... Both are about the same out to 25 yards lol. I do shoot the glock better out to 100 yards though.

The other option for smaller hands is a 1911 in 10mm. You might lose reliability, easy caliber changes, and easy customization, but it's hard to beat a 1911 for simply feeling nice.

I have a S&W 1006 for 10mm Auto now and it is a nice, solid gun but I would like to add a plastic one at some point. I guess I can keep my fingers crossed that S&W will bring one out at some point.

Over the years there has been a lot of online speculation about a 10mm M&P. I'd certainly like one myself, but I don't think it will ever happen. I suspect the redesign, retooling, testing and development costs balanced against the profitability of marketing what is really a niche caliber simply makes it an economic non-starter. Perhaps if some large government agency somewhere puts in a really massive order for such a gun it could happen, but that seems pretty unlikely to me. We can hope, but I won't be holding my breath.

It would be interesting to discover what sort of of economic success Glock is having with their 10mm pistols....

I'd like to see a 5" M&P for sure. Not that I would necessarily buy one over other offerings, but the more 10mm platforms around, the better (for the future of the cartridge / factory ammo availability)
