anyone ever experience slam fire?

7x57 FN49, Sounded like a MG42. Five rounds, BRRP.
Short stroking due to incorrect gas system adjustment for that ammo.
Good thing the rifle is heavy for the caliber.

My Izh35m was slamfiring one extra round ever now and then. Worst was when it haapened on releasing the slide to loaded the chamber. That get's everyone attention during a competetion.

How about a AMT .22 Automag II.
Mine currently is a .22 Fully-Auto mag.
Initially caused by crud build up (500 rounds w/o a scrub job). After 3-4 clips of "WTF!!!". Cleaned it out and found that slam firing stretched the firing pin slightly and wore out the FP return spring.
So right now the damned AMT is in the vault in pieces awaiting spare parts... Fun gun when it worked....

A S&W 9mm pistol I was considering buying a few years ago would go auto every once in a while, 2 or 3 round bursts at random, it would also occasionally let one go just from the slide slamming home during loading. The owner told me it had happened a few years ago and the gunsmith had replaced some parts and all was well for a few thousand rounds and then it started again. Needless to say I walked away from that deal.

I love that guy with the howitzer!! I think 2 of his buddies went straight to searching for his 'nads in the bushes.
