I have a couple TC hawken bbls that I likely will never use. I wanna do something with em. I think one is in .45 and the other is in .50 Both are pretty rough but the rifleing is ok.

Some black powder barrels are made from the same steel as centerfire.

Some were made out of much weaker steel. If these are run at higher pressures, poof goes the barrel.

Just check with the manf to ensure what steel you are working with.

I have a early Remington Rolling block with a 50 cal muzzleloading barrel on it and it works fine in 50/70 but agian I use either black powder or light smokless loads

I think the big issue is the question of whether the rifling twist is compatible with what you want to chamber the gun in. I am tempted to say that if you have to ask, the answer is probably no. My point being that you can probably make a wildcat cartridge that will be as accurate as the original muzzle loader but doubt that the bore and twist dimensions will be appropriate for commercial cartridges

Mooncoon said it right, most BPCR barrel are 1-18 for .45 cals.(45/70) and 1-22 for 50s(50/90 sharps), and I'm thinking alot of muzzleloaders will have very slow 1-60" twists.

Ream them out and install rifled barrel liner to the caliber of your choice? This is definetly gunsmith type work though and it'll cost. By the time you do all that it would probably be cheaper to buy or trade your barrels to someone with a cartridge barrel that is wanting to try black powder instead.
