I did it, and it worked very well. You will have to develop a load for your own rifle. Win 760 worked best for me with 300 grain bullets. Start at the recommended minimum.

the new 235 gr. TSX for 2006 should be a dandy moose and elk bullet!

never loaded TSX in the 375 yet so cant help ya there...

Loaded the 270gr TSX to somwhere over 2600fps. I'll have to check my data. Accuracy was so-so at ~1 1/2" and at 90 yards the bullet hardly opened at all when fired into wet newspaper. I doubt it would have opened at all at 200 yards. All in all it was not a great experience.

This one shows a Barnes XLC 160gr out of my 7mm RM fired into the same media at the same range. Not much difference is there?

Penetration was about 21", about 1/2" more than the 7mm RM, which was launched at a hair over 2900fps. The wound channel appeared identical. There was 100% weight retention on both bullets, however, as you can see, the 7mm opened up all the way. The way I saw it was this: virtually identical wound channel and penetration between the two.

I also tried the 285gr Speer GS at just over 2700fps. It penetrated about 18", but the wound channel was much bigger than with the TSX. Plus accuracy was much better at under 1".

the 270 gr. TSX was probably designed with large game in mind, like Cape Buffalo, ELand, Grizzly, etc...not deer, elk, and moose.

Might want to try a more fragile bullet on BC game like the 260 gr. Nosler Accubond, or if you want to use an X, wait for the new 2006 235 gr. TSX for 375.

I fired a 180gr tsx at around 3200fps from my 300 wby and a 270gr tsx at around 2700fps from my 375 h&h into a block of wood at 100m. I dug the bullets out. Penetration for the 300wby was 12 inches and for the 375 h&h it was 10 inches. Both bullets had virtualy 100% weight retention and both expanded to .68 inch diameter. The 180gr opend up all the way and the 375 didn't. A block of hardwood is pretty tough medium I'd say. Not sure but the 270's might need to be pushed faster to expand all the way? I have pictures of the bullets I dug out of the wood.

Cheers

Thanks again.Looks like it'll punch a fair size hole all the way through (.68) and
little meat damage. Will try some next range day.
