Anyone familiar with. 300 Lapua Magnum?

I've heard of the cartridge, but never heard of anyone who had one. It'll be a barrel burner for sure.

A few years ago I developed a cartridge I named the 300 Awesome, which was made by necking 338 Lapua IMPROVED down to 308 caliber.
I got 3600 FPS from the 240 gr SMKs. Not sure on what barrel life will be as I only have about 500 rounds through it to date, but I will be happy if I see 1500 before the barrel is done.
What the OP MAY?? be asking about is the new 300 Norma magnum I believe, not the 308 Norma mag which is entirely different again. The 300 Norma mag is simply a shortened 338 Lapua casings then necked down to 308 cal. The inventor Jimmie Sloan (6.5x47 Lapua amongst others) claims that the 230 gr Berger will get to near 3500 FPS and that barrel life is no worse than 300 Win Mag.
I am building 1 of these as well mostly as a lighter weight hunting rig, but as I just got my reamer last week have not had time to get to work on it.
OP The cost of casings and powder and custom dies is greater than the cost of the bullets. Also what is the point of lighter bullets? At extreme long range like these 2 grossly overbore 30 cals are designed for, 110 gr plinker bullets that ARE cheaper, just don't work.
If the plan is cheap buy a 22LR and fill yer boots.
What i meant by cheap was that i can get 100 208 gr HPBT match bullets from Hornady for $40 versus over $1.50 each for Lapua Scenars in 338. Got 8lbs of N570 and 1000 rounds of once fired Lapua brass. Just thinking about something different!

If this is true, you might want to spend a bit more time reseaching said wildcat for intended application.
Only a very few are using 300WM for Open and they are not having much fun....
300WSM is likely as big as it goes until the "Fed" decides to finance shooters.
And if the goals it to be competitive in Open with a 300 Norma magnum spitting out 230's at well.... some outrageous speeds, expect to be changing barrels long before you see 1000rds down the pipe.

Well i shall be stuck shooting 338Lapua at the farm and sand pit forever i guess. I have the best job in the Army which gives me all the 338 brass ill ever need. So naturally i wanna use it. 30-338 Lapua would have still allowed me to use the brass and shoot 30 cal. Projectiles.

You are paying almost 50% too much for your bullets, but still 300 gr 338 bullets ARE more expensive than 200 gr bullets .
Unless you are really stretching out there as in well beyond the 1000 yard mark I have to agree with dero338, maybe consider a 300 win mag?
Depending which range you plan to shoot F class at you should probably just take the brake off and use the .338 as is. This would be permitted at the Homestead range near Calgary. If memry serves though you are somewhere in Ontario, Petawawa perhaps? You still can't use a brake on the 30-338. Recoil is going to be virtually the same ad you are going to have to wildcat the brass which can be a huge PITA.
If you are planning to shoot that 30-338 at Connaught you will have to think again. Your wildcat will still fall into the .338 range template which is not permitted for civvie shooters. There is a max BC / velocity formula for civvie guns at connaught and the 30-338 is on the wrong side. If you are planning to use this gun at connaught I strongly recommend you contact the DCRA for the specifics of what is and is not allowed before you spend a fortune to build a wildcat only to find out it's still not allowed.
