I took my vangaurd out today for the first time to sight in, Bought the cheapest ammo wallmart had that happened to be 150 grain Federal. All my 3 shot groups came in at 1.5' or under but the majority were 1-1.5. Would free loading the original stock help bring it to sub 1 constantly?

I would try better ammo first.

I have one in 7-08 for hunting . With good ammo it will shoot sub moa . With handload the same. Mine isn't free floated.

IIRC the Weatherby Vanguards S2 are recommended to have some tension on the barrel and not be free floated?

If you free float a Wby barrel smaller than a number 3 contour they won't honor the guarantee to shoot sub-moa.

Through all their development they have determined that you need upward pressure on the #2 Vanguard barrels for them to shoot accurately.

I own four VG2's. They are all sub-moa. I am not going to mess with that even if the general consensus is that free floating is the way to go.

I agree, try better ammo first. My S2 will not shoot Federal ammo consistently, but worked well with Remington Core-Lokts and Winchester. Handloads have performed the best in mine, but for now try some other ammo and you should be sub 1.
