Anyone from Toronto going to the Guelph Jan 30 match?

I just found out an Irish IPSC shooter is coming to Toronto, and would like to check out the Guelph IPSC match on the 30th.

Is anyone from Toronto shooting the match interested in a little ambassadorship?

Ireland just banned IPSC shooting in particular, and are now refusing to renew many licences for handguns as they come up.

I'm on the waiting list but you know how that goes - I won't know if there is a spot open until a day or two before the match. I do know that a friend of mine is shooting the match and he is in the Bradford area. If you want I can pass along his contact info and you can check to see if he would be willing to lend a hand. Drop me a line if you don't find a better option.

wow,..it appears that ISSF really ####ed IPSC in Ireland. No one is pointing fingers yet,...but the hand is pointing in that direction. I pray those IPSC folks in Ireland have a chance to shoot IPSC again on Irelands soil.

ISSF certainly are no friend of IPSC.

For those out of the loop...

Ireland did not have a legislated handgun ban, but in the late 60's, the police began to refuse to issue or renew licences. That stood until the mid 90's when a former owner went to court and won.

The Guarda began issuing handgun permits again, and IPSC began to flourish.

The republic got a new justice minister, who decided the Irish needed to be spared the "gun culture". He's banned IPSC specificly and most people looking to renew handgun permits are being refused. It sounds like some are getting licences, but only for use outside the juristiction.

Great if you want to fly to France, Belgium, or drive/take the ferry to Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man.
