Hey gents,

I am looking at purchasing some custom brass from Buffalo arms but their shipping policy is unclear if they will ship brass to Canada or not. It would be my first time trying to get some brass south of the border and I am wondering if anyone else has tried it successfully or not ?

Thanks for the help :).

I do buy brass in the us on gunbroker. Not all seller want to ship to Canada but I ask even if they state they do not.

As for Buffalo Arms, ask them. They do ship to Canada. I purchased bullet mould, numerous sights and black powder tools and equipment but never brass.

Since brass is not restricted, I do not see why not, BUT if it’s Starline brass, it’s a company (Starline) policy not to ship to Canada to support their Canadian dealers network.

While I try to support Canadian business, when it cannot be found, another US company I buy from , you can check Track of the Wolf. They are good to deal with.

Hi guys, thank you for the quick replies this morning. I will send Buffalo arms an email and see what they say. The brass I am looking at specifically is 8x60R Kropatschek brass and it looks like it is made from a Starline brass parent case so I hope that won't be an issue as you mention, Janeau.

Mbogo, I went searching through the US Munitions List as it seems brass is considered a Category III item but I got lost in the legalize of the document in trying to find a straight answer. When I looked through importer websites, such as IRUNGUNS, they don't mention anything about brass. A general search online revealed that it doesn't seem to be a Canadian border issue but more of a U.S Customs one but again, no definite answer.

I will let you guys know what Buffalo arms says so the answer will help others who may be looking for their brass as well.

Cases are definitely restricted by ITAR.

Safest bet would be to import them through Prophet River or IRunGuns... Need to decide if the additional importation cost will worth the exercise or not...

Hey guys, I just heard back from Buffalo Arms and they said they cannot send any brass to us and that it must go through an exporter.

Here's the link to a thread on Castboolits for forming and loading the 8X60 Kro using 348 Winchester brass.

Not too hard to find 348 brass in Canada.

You may not need to bevel the rims. Quite a few bolts will accept the 348 rim as is. Be sure to try chambering one without doing that first.
