Anyone Getting Pumped For Another Waterfowl Season?

I am absolutely excited about my first waterfowl season ever!

I'm kind of hoping I just have to sit in my canoe and shoot without worrying about decoys or blinds

Jump shooting from a canoe can be an effective technique and I have done it years past. I like the whole experience of placing a decoy spread and calling birds in though. It just adds a whole different level of excitement to the game. I am sure you will have fun, good luck in your first season and welcome to the addiction.

I'm sure it could work. I've shot ducks while bass fishing on my buddys ranger bass boat. He was dressed in full blaze orange rain suit. We'd drift thru the weed beds casting and if the bluebills flew to close I'd drop the rod and grab the 12ga

I am so PUMPED!! I've got the itch so bad.

1. Fully trained bird dog on the way
2. New Patternmaster tube installed and very, very well tested
3. All decoys have been cleaned up, with new rope and anchors, all bagged up.
4. Flats of ammo are ready to rock.
5. Hunting pack is all packed and ready to go, camo hung on a hanger.

All I need to do is grab and go! I'm so ready for this.

OH Man I am pumped too but I am way behind compared to you....I just finally pulled out the calls and started practicing.

Yeah, getting more excited as the opener gets closer.

Not much new as far as gear goes other than some new decoy lines and weights and some camo netting to cover the jon boat.

Did, recently re-paint my diver decoys though.

Can't wait!

Any interest in taking a (relative) newbie out with you?

I got my license last year and did a few days of geese and upland North of Toronto but just moved to Ottawa for work. Have car, gun(s) and camo.

Will happily buy you breakfast, lunch and coffee.

This will be my second year, but first year actually taking it seriously, just got permission to use a prime private pond 15 minutes from my house in the s**tty, I mean city...got some dekes, working on some calls, 4 man blind being built, flat of shells, zodiac has been aired up, all is good, just waiting for that opening day and catch them by surprise, then hopefully curry goose for dinner.

You bet. My field was seeded this year and seen lots of ducks and geese this spring. Living next to a marsh will make for an interesting season.

I have every weekend in October booked for extra long weekend as I have Fridays off on a regular week. So four days of hunting and three days of work between weekends...

Usually in my area upland and waterfowl openers are the same day. This year upland is delayed a week so I will actually have a week to dedicate to waterfowl. Should be fun.

Sure am. I've done a little duck and goose hunting in the past, but I plan to do a good deal more of it this year. Picked up some calls, floating decoys and a Lucky Duck, and a new shotgun is supposed to be showing up at some point. I'll have to get some chest waders yet as I don't have a suitable bird dog. It's going to be an early harvest this year so I should have more time this fall to hunt, and there's certainly no shortage of ducks or geese around here.

I will have to talk to the other lads about it, it isn't only my call to make :)
