Okay I have to admit Im kinda furious at the moment...

Made a deal with a CGNer, a nice M44 and a dewat thompson.

When I received my package today I found it was broken, the M44's wood is terribly damaged, seems someone dropped it on concrete, and a spare 30 rd pinned 5 thompson magazine is no longer in the box...

Im thinking how to file the claim to CanadaLost, any suggestions?

Assuming that you received the parcel via Canada Post, then you, the receiver of the parcel, are basically "SOOL" - it is only the sender of the parcel who could have insured it and who can initiate a claim to Canada Post. Might be different for other entities that ship...

Yep sadly Im the receiver :(
Thanks for the info, I will contact the sender first :)

If you can’t properly wrap something, or use a real decent and strong box,
a person shouldn’t be selling anything by mail.
It’s scary some of the sh/tty attempts of a wrapped parcel
I have received in the past.
Sounds like a bad packaging job

If Canada post can break it, than it is not packaged properly. Did you /he pay for insurance?

I had a Mosin M91 Infantry Rifle they shattered the stock on right at the wrist. Was inside a box, wrapped with a lot of bubble wrap and packing tape. They literally folded the box in half. Not much you can do to prevent that other than building a crate. Highly recommend paying for insurance at all times when dealing with those guys as it is amateur hour at best.

Yep, Ins is only $2.25 / $100. I've spent over $100 just for ins this year - and not even half-way thru the year. You sleep better even tho some things can't be 'fixed' with just money.

Would you like my Biz account #? First 100$ ins is free and reduced prices on essentially everything! All you do is give the 7 digits to the clerk before you start.
