Anyone have a BL22? Thoughts?

No kidding , that short throw is awesome for consecutive/running gopher shots. You can snap them rounds out there just as fast as a semi.

If you grew up on 94 or Marlin centerfire rifles you would understand... I am certainly not alone in my extreme dislike of the short throw lever... for me it ruins the lever action experience.

I handled one at the Hunt Mania show yesterday. Feels nicer than the Henry that was also there. Never fired one. The trigger goes with the handle when you cycle the action. Kind of cool.

I've heard nothing but great things about the BL22. (If only they made it in .17)

Haven't owned one yet, but I've shot them a fair bit. Never had a bad experience, and never heard an owner complain about one. IMO a great little rifle, I'll likely wind up with one eventually, though I have a bit of a crush on the Marlin lil lever too.

I've never owned one, but have replaced broken firing pins on two of them for friends in the last couple years. Don't know the circumstances of how/why they broke, just know they did. Western Gun Parts got me new parts both times, and the guns were up and running again after replacement. They are a pain to take apart, and there's this little triangle piece that I never seem to get installed they right way the first time.

I had to replace my firing pin, after 30+ years of use and hundreds of bricks of ammo. It was less than 50 bucks at a gunsmith to repair. I'm already on my second case of 5250 rounds this year alone for shooting gophers. It takes a lot to break them.

I did grow up with levers, but I like my Browning better.

The BL22 is a nice, quality, rimfire rifle... The only things that bugs me about them is the rear sights that always seems to fall to the down position  When compared to the 9422 and the 39A, it's definitively smaller/lighter.

Eventually, I wouldn't mind adding one to the safe :):

My father shot a BL22 way back in the old days and had no issues with feeding or extraction, but found it sprinkled the target. Was trying to sight it in for a guy. It was used so maybe someone did a number on the muzzle with a jointed cleaning rod or something.

I picked up a like new in box 9422 in the late 90s that I still have. It functions perfectly and was amazingly accurate. Have not shot it for a long time now so not sure my eyes will allow me to duplicate those targets again.

I know a guy with a Marlin 39A and his grandkids shoot it all the time and it functions fine. Accuracy seems to suit him, but then I don't think he really cares much about that.

I love my lever rifles. So when I got to try a Browning I thought I'd love it too. But I'm simply too used to the longer "proper" lever travel of my .30-30's, my CAS rifle and my Henry. I kept "crashing" the lever on the front stop due to the short stroke. I quickly came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me.

If it'll be the ONLY lever rifle you get then go for it. They look and feel fantastic..... other than the short lever travel thing.... :D

If anyone has some insight on how to safely lighten the trigger pull, I'd like to lower the 10+ pound trigger pull on my sons BL-22
Heck I'm gonna search it right now
