Anyone have a good plan for a reloading bench?

standard plywood sheet that you'd use for the top is 4'x8' so try to keep it within those limits to be able to use ONE slab for the top
your arm's reach is 2' to 2.5' so make that the depth - heck, maybe even 3' deep if you have the space for it
2x4 lumber makes great supports / rails, and also legs (or you can go 4x4 for legs)

google images can likely give you a TON of various plans, but most are going to be 2'x4' or so. i'd go 3'x6' for adequate space. you don't need a specific design - a ladder frame for the frame, 4x4 for legs, ply for top, nail gun, 1/4" ply sheets for side & rear panels to keep it from skewing

In my 2003 Speer Reloading Manual there is reference to a set of reloading bench plans for sale from The National Reloading Manufacturers Association, (NRMA) 1 Centerpoint Drive, Lake Oswego, Oregon, USA 97035. From the photos, it is a well thought out & functional heavy duty bench. Doesn't look like it would cost all that much. ;)

i've got a PDF for quite an in depth reloading bench, pm me and i'll send it to you, as for my bench i used 3/4" i side good plywood (2'x4') for the top, 4x4" for the legs and 2x4" for the rest of the frame. It's not pretty, but it solid and suits my needs quite well.

If you are mounting it to the wall, just rip the standard sheet of plywood in half and double it up for the top. I used 3/4 inch for a 1 1/2 inch thick top.

I found over the years that beyond 2 feet deep is largely wasted space.

I based my bench and shelf heights off of a kitchen counter and used eye level for my shelf so my beam scale is at eye level. I stand to reload so, it works well for me. Pm me if you have any questions or need a hand.

A great source for killer strong bench tops is to use old solid core doors. I bought a pallet of old doors at an auction. Made all of the shelves and benches from them for my shop. I used a STEEL door for my reloading bench. Weighs about 150 pounds and is very rigid.

From accurateshooter:

"The NRA’s American Rifleman Online website has an excellent article this month that shows how to construct a rock-solid Reloading Bench. There are plenty of photos, and a detailed set of Bench Blueprints showing all dimensions and listing all needed materials. This bench is very well designed, with many deluxe features, such as an upper drawer with fitted slots for die boxes, and large lower drawers with 100-lb rated slides to store heavy materials or tools. If you have good wood-working skills this would be an excellent project for the fall or winter (but if you’ve never done anything but assemble IKEA furniture, you may want to stick to a simpler design)."
