Anyone have a H&R .38-55 "Target" model? Need help with groove diameter.

Just need to find the groove diameter of the .38-55 H&R "Target" model, hopefully not .375", looking for old spec.

Slug the bore lube a pure lead slug drive it about an inch in muzzel end then tap it back out measure with calipers do this carefully with a brass dowel taking care not to damage muzzel . correct slug size is probably .375

Should be .379 but most jacketed bullets are .377 Lee makes a 250gr .379 mold Although some modern versions do indeed sport .375 bores.........one way to find out check out castboolits.com Harold

Thanks Harold, yea I should have checked castboolits, good thinking. I've got the Lee .379" mold, likely going to pick up another and mill it down a couple lube grooves to have a lightweight bullet as well.

I also picked up a discontinued Lyman mold 375296 GC. A double cavity mold 260gr.Forster makes a HP outfit that looks like a casetrimmer to enhance expansion for cast projectiles....................Harold ** bullets drop out at about .380"
